When you look for rookies that should have opportunities to make immediate impacts in the NFL, you start a checklist of items that will aid them on their way to success. With Rivers you can check off virtually every barrier to success. Size? 6'2" 241 pounds...check. Pedigree? Three-year starter at USC...check. Success? All-American and All-Pac Ten Honors..check. Opportunity? Almost a walk-in WLB spot in the Cincinnati Bengals lineup...check. It seems every season there is a rookie LB that is setup for success in the NFL, and this season it's Rivers that should be at the top of the "potentials" list before camps start up. That's not to say the path before him is completely clear, as anyone who has followed the professional game for very long knows that any rookie is at best, a risky proposition.Associate Editor
