Prior to 2007, the Cardinals moved into the sparkling new University of Phoenix stadium and turned over the reins of the franchise to first-year head coach Ken Whisenhunt, who guided the perennial doormats to their first non-losing record since the 1998 season. The Cardinals ranked 12th in total offense last year, averaging 344.1 yards per game and finished seventh in scoring offense, averaging 25.2 points-per-game. The rankings in these statistical categories represented significant improvement over the 2006 season. As a result, offensive coordinator Todd Haley was rewarded with a new three-year, $4.5 million contract. Haley took over the play calling duties late in the season, and will assume the added responsibility fulltime in 2008. Meanwhile, Whisenhunt is changing the culture in Arizona from a downtrodden organization to a respectable franchise capable of making some noise in the NFC West Division.Senior Editor
