Oakland has officially announced the return of Jason Giambi, according to the Contra Costa Times. As previously stated, he received a one-year deal with an option for 2010.

Our View:187 of his 396 homers have been hit with Oakland, and he will serve as a solid power complement to Matt Holliday in the lineup.
January 6, 2009
As expected, Jason Giambi has agreed to a one-year deal with Oakland worth $4.5 million, according to the NY Post. Oakland has a team option for 2010 at $5 million with a $1 million buyout. The deal is pending a physical.

Our View:The slugger will serve as a solid power complement to Matt Holliday, as Giambi blasted 32 homers with 96 RBI in 2008 with the Yankees. He is four homers away from 400 for his career.
January 6, 2009
Buster Olney of ESPN indiates that Jason Giambi signing with the A's is imminent, and the deal will be worth $5.25 million guaranteed ($4 million the first year plus an unknown 2010 option with a $1.25 million buyout).

Our View:He would serve as a solid power complement to Matt Holliday, as Giambi blasted 32 homers with 96 RBI in 2008 with the Yankees.
January 5, 2009
Jason Giambi is making significant progress in contract talks with the A's, according to MLB.com. He could sign a one-year deal with an option to return to Oakland as early as this week.

Our View:Giambi showed with the Yankees last year that he can still be productive from a power standpoint as he hit 32 home runs with 96 RBI. Average may be another story, as he just hit .247 and has only batted over .270 once in his past six years with the Yankees.
December 27, 2008
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland A's will attempt to sign free agent Jason Giambi.

Our View:The A's would like to sign Giambi, but not to a three-year deal, as he would like. Giambi is 38 years of age, and though still retains power, hit just .247 last season.
