GM Walt Jocketty noted that the Reds had internal discussions regarding Andruw Jones, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:Jocketty needs to gather more information on Jones, and the GM is yet to talk to the Dodgers.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that Dodgers outfielder Andruw Jones will be a free agent on Jan. 15, assuming he is not traded by then, which is a safe bet. Though agent Scott Boras has worked to alleviate the financial strain of Jones' contract, which figures to pay him only $5 million in 2009 rather than $21.1 million, teams are wary of signing the former All-Star, who went through a horrific season a year ago and is recovering from knee surgery.

Our View:O'Brien suggests the Braves shouldn't mortgage even a shred of the organization's future to obtain Jones, but he does think signing him to a possible minor-league deal worth roughly $1 million would be the way to go.
January 4, 2009
Andruw Jones' career could be in jeopardy, according to Buster Olney of ESPN. He reports that the Mets aren't interested in acquiring Jones and doesn't believe that the Reds are a good fit.

Our View:The Dodgers restructured Jones' contract so that he will only be owed $5 million for the 2009 season with the other $10 million over the five following years. Paying an overweight outfielder to strike out a lot isn't a priority for most teams, so it's difficult to see him getting moved unless it's in exchange for another bad contract.
January 3, 2009
Yahoo! Sports reporter Tim Brown speculates that Andruw Jones could land in Washington next season.

Our View:The Nationals have been trying to get a big-name player to Washington, but have been ultimately rebuffed, in no small part because of how awful they are.
January 3, 2009
The Dodgers will either trade or release Andruw Jones, as he agreed to defer money on his contract, according to the L.A. Times. The move will take $12 million off the Dodgers' payroll this season.

Our View:If the Dodgers cannot find any takers in a trade, the team will release him in spring training. It would seem hard to believe a team would be willing to trade for him when they could simply pick him up and pay just a small amount of money.
