Among the options that the Yankees are considering is trading for White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye, the New York Post reports.

Our View:The team is also interested in premium free agents Mark Teixeira and Manny Ramirez, so they probably wouldn't settle for Dye unless their other two plans fall through.

WFAN in New York is reporting that the White Sox and braves are in serious discussions regarding Jermaine Dye.

Our View:The two teams have already pulled off a big trade involving Javier Vazquez and it is at least a possiblity that they workout a second deal. Then again, the Braves have been rumored in nearly every rumor floating around.

SI.com reports that a person familiar with the White Sox's thinking said late Monday night, "The Jermaine Dye trades are dead ... for tonight, anyway." The Rays, Braves and Reds are among 10 teams to express interest in Dye.

Our View:The White Sox already have traded Javier Vazquez and Nick Swisher, and are letting shortstop Orlando Cabrera leave as a free agent. They'd consider dealing Dye, but surely not for fallen Reds pitching prospect Homer Bailey. They'd need a lot more than that for a middle-of-the-order hitter like Dye. The White Sox are always one of the most aggressive, creative teams, so it will be interesting to see whether they will utilize all their new-found spending money.

Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News said the source of his reported Jermaine Dye for Homer Bailey trade was a high-ranking White Sox official and that a deal had been in the works, despite the denials.

Our View:Dye for Bailey was said to be a go, and then denials came out, most notably from Reds GM Walt Jocketty. McCoy says it's now possible the deal hit a snag.

MLB.com reports that Reds' GM Walt Jocketty commented on the rumored Homer Bailey-for-Jermaine Dye trade on Sunday. "Wrong. It's not even close," Jocketty said. There have been talks between the Reds and White Sox involving Dye, but they are not active. "We haven't had any discussions with the White Sox since before Thanksgiving," Jocketty said.

Our View:The deal could still possibly get done, but the Sox want more prospects other than Homer Bailey, who struggled last season.
