Among the options that the Yankees are considering is trading for White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye, the New York Post reports.

Our View:The team is also interested in premium free agents Mark Teixeira and Manny Ramirez, so they probably wouldn't settle for Dye unless their other two plans fall through.
December 9, 2008
WFAN in New York is reporting that the White Sox and braves are in serious discussions regarding Jermaine Dye.

Our View:The two teams have already pulled off a big trade involving Javier Vazquez and it is at least a possiblity that they workout a second deal. Then again, the Braves have been rumored in nearly every rumor floating around.
December 9, 2008
SI.com reports that a person familiar with the White Sox's thinking said late Monday night, "The Jermaine Dye trades are dead ... for tonight, anyway." The Rays, Braves and Reds are among 10 teams to express interest in Dye.

Our View:The White Sox already have traded Javier Vazquez and Nick Swisher, and are letting shortstop Orlando Cabrera leave as a free agent. They'd consider dealing Dye, but surely not for fallen Reds pitching prospect Homer Bailey. They'd need a lot more than that for a middle-of-the-order hitter like Dye. The White Sox are always one of the most aggressive, creative teams, so it will be interesting to see whether they will utilize all their new-found spending money.
December 8, 2008
Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News said the source of his reported Jermaine Dye for Homer Bailey trade was a high-ranking White Sox official and that a deal had been in the works, despite the denials.

Our View:Dye for Bailey was said to be a go, and then denials came out, most notably from Reds GM Walt Jocketty. McCoy says it's now possible the deal hit a snag.
December 7, 2008
MLB.com reports that Reds' GM Walt Jocketty commented on the rumored Homer Bailey-for- Jermaine Dye trade on Sunday. "Wrong. It's not even close," Jocketty said. There have been talks between the Reds and White Sox involving Dye, but they are not active. "We haven't had any discussions with the White Sox since before Thanksgiving," Jocketty said.

Our View:The deal could still possibly get done, but the Sox want more prospects other than Homer Bailey, who struggled last season.
December 7, 2008
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that a source familiar with the Jermaine Dye-for-Homer Bailey trade talks rejected a report in the Dayton Daily News quoting a "major-league source close to the situation" that a deal to send Sox right fielder Jermaine Dye to Cincinnati for pitcher Homer Bailey "was done and would be announced this week."

Our View:Whether it's official or not, this deal seems very close to being done. Dye hit .292 last season with 34 home runs and 96 RBI last season.
December 7, 2008
The Dayton Daily News is reporting that Jermaine Dye has been traded to the Cincinnati Reds for Homer Bailey.

Our View:This is a rebuilding team trading for an aging slugger? Bailey is a bit of a headcase who has upset the clubhouse, but he still has ace potential and this deal could look as bad as the John Danks for Brandon McCarthy deal the White Sox pulled off two seasons ago.
December 7, 2008
Jermaine Dye could be the next player to get traded, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.com.

Our View:There are a number of teams interested in Dye, including the Braves, Reds, Rays, Mets and Royals.
December 4, 2008
There is a rumor circulating that the Mets are talking about dealing top prospect Fernando Martinez to the White Sox for Jermaine Dye and Bobby Jenks, according to the NY Post.

Our View:The Mets have shot down the report, however. Martinez is still considered untouchable by the team. Dye would be a strong addition to the Mets' outfield, but not worth losing Martinez to acquire him.
November 30, 2008
The Chicago Tribune reports that the Reds and White Sox are having trade discussions involving Jermaine Dye.

Our View:Dye, who has hit 137 home runs in the last four years, will earn $11.5 million in 2009, with a mutual option for $12 million in 2010 that includes a $1 million buyout. He hit .292 with 34 home runs and 96 RBI.
November 30, 2008
There is speculation that the Cardinals may be interested in outfielder Jermaine Dye, according to CardinalsBestNews.com.

Our View:They would join the Phillies, Braves, and Rays as the clubs known to be interested in Dye. The Sox are asking for a young starting pitcher plus additional players in exchange for Dye, and it remains to be seen if the Cardinals will make a proposal.
November 30, 2008
The Rays would like to acquire Jermaine Dye, but the White Sox want more than Andy Sonnanstine and Edwin Jackson in return, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The Rays feel Dye would be a great fit to fill their void in the outfield, but may not be willing to give up more than the back of their rotation to land him.
November 25, 2008
There is a rumor circulating that the Reds are talking to the White Sox in a potential trade of Jermaine Dye for Homer Bailey, according to 1530 WCKY in Cincinnati.

Our View:The Sox are looking for a young starting pitcher in exchange for Dye, and the hyped Homer Bailey would fit the bill.
November 25, 2008
The Braves have inquired about Chicago outfielder Jermaine Dye, according to MLB.com. Atlanta also asked about Javier Vazquez.

Our View:The Sox are looking for a young starter plus additional players in exchange for Dye, so the Braves may be turned away unless they lower their asking price. Dye notably started his career with Atlanta back in 1996, and is two homers away from 300 for his career.
November 25, 2008
The Phillies, Mets, and Rays have inquired about Chicago outfielder Jermaine Dye, but have been turned off by his hefty asking price, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View:The Sox are looking for a young starter plus additional players in exchange for Dye. He is set to earn $11.5 million in the final year of his contract in 2009, meaning he would likely be a one-year rental. He can block a trade to six teams, most of which are said to be in the northeast.
November 12, 2008
Jermaine Dye is apparently available, according to the Chicago Tribune. He does have a limited no-trade clause.

Our View:The White Sox are looking for prospects in return. The 35-year-old hit .292 with 34 home runs and 96 RBI last season.
November 7, 2008
The Phillies may be interested in a trade with the White Sox to acquire outfielder Jermaine Dye, according to ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago.

Our View:The 2008 champs are expected to lose Pat Burrell, so perhaps they can swing a 1-for-1 deal with Dye.
October 6, 2008
Jermaine Dye could end up being traded this offseason as the White Sox will likely look to get a bit younger and more athletic, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View:Dye is coming off a .292-34-96-96 effort and is under contract for $11.5 million next season with a $12 million mutual option in 2010. If the Sox do indeed decide to go in another direction, Dye would certainly be an attractive option for a team looking to add some pop to their lineup.
October 4, 2008
Jermaine Dye is doing his part for the struggling Sox, as they currently trail the Rays 2-0 in the ALDS, according to MLB.com. Dye said, "No matter if it's a playoff or a regular-season game, anytime you do well and your team loses, you still feel like you failed. We just try to find a way to win, no matter what. We win or lose as a team. There are no heroes on this team. We're all together. If we lose, I feel like I didn't do enough to help the team win."

Our View:Dye is hitting 5-for-9 over the two losses at Tropicana Field, and is more than halfway towards matching his career-best hit total for a postseason series, and he's been in 10 of them over his career. Dye will try to pull Chicago back into the series Sunday at U.S. Cellular Field in Game 3.
October 3, 2008
Jermaine Dye was 4-for-5 with four singles on Friday against the Rays in Game 2 of the ALDS. One of his "hits" was a liner that was dropped by the shortstop, thrown across the diamond where Dye was tagged on the back. The umpire was in poor position which resulted in a poor call and Dye was ruled safe. The Sox lost the game 6-2.

Our View:Unfortunately the rest of his lineup couldn't knock him in even once. The Sox left their clutch hitting in Chicago as they left runners on base all night.
September 30, 2008
Jermaine Dye had two hits in four trips to the plate on Tuesday night to help the White Sox to defeat the Twins to move on to the playoffs.

Our View:Dye ends the year just short of multiple milestones with 34 home runs, 96 RBI and 96 runs scored. Still, when you toss in a .292 batting average you have one heck of a season from the Sox consistent power threat that calls right field home.
September 28, 2008
The AP reports that Jermaine Dye had a clutch two-run single for the White Sox in the seventh inning of their 5-1 victory over the Indians on Sunday. He was 2-for-4 in the game.

Our View:Dye has two RBI in each of his last three games and 95 on the season.
September 23, 2008
Jermaine Dye went hitless in four at-bats for the White Sox in their 9-3 loss to the Twins on Tuesday.

Our View:Dye has had a miserable September, and has not hit a home run since late August. His overall numbers are very good, but he has been detrimental to fantasy owners the last month.
September 11, 2008
Jermaine Dye had two hits and two RBI for the White Sox on Thursday night to push his season total up to 87 runs batted in.

Our View:Dye has only knocked in only four runs over his last 12 appearances, and the team certainly needs more than that from the slugger with Carlos Quentin on the sidelines.
September 7, 2008
Jermaine Dye has had better games than the one he played in the White Sox 3-2 loss to the Angels. Dye went 0-for-3 and struck out twice.

Our View:This is the third time in six games Dye has struck out multiple times. He has struggled to a .217 average in September.
August 25, 2008
Jermaine Dye had a chance to win the game for the White Sox but popped up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 14th inning in Chicago's 4-3 loss to Baltimore. The game was a continuation of one that began in April but was suspended due to weather.

Our View:Dye is having a great year overall, with 31 home runs, 81 RBI and a batting average near .300, so fantasy owners are likely willing to look past Monday's outcome.
August 23, 2008
Jermaine Dye was a one-man wrecking crew for the White Sox Saturday, as he pounded out two homers, his 30th and 31st of the season, in a loss to the Rays.

Our View:Most of the talk about the White Sox offense begins with Carlos Quentin, but Dye has had a fantastic year, as well.
August 12, 2008
The White Sox put the smack down on the Royals this evening, winning 9-0 with a splash of offense from outfielder Jermaine Dye . Dye went 2-for-4 with his 26th double and 28th home run of the season, posting three RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View:Dye improves to a .302 average on the season, though his pace ha slowed in August, having hit .341 in July versus just .211 in August. Hoewver, he now carries four homers on the month with nine RBIs and 10 runs scored.
August 2, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 9-7 loss to the Royals.

Our View:Dye has 26 homers, with three coming over his last seven games. He should remain active in all leagues.
July 27, 2008
Jermaine Dye homered for the third straight day in the White Sox 6-4 loss to the Tigers. It marks the 24th home run of his season. He added a double and finished the day 2-for-3.

Our View:Dye has been a pleasant surprise in 2008. His batting average is 60 points higher than it was a season ago. He is hitting .364 with six home runs, 15 RBI, and 15 runs scored in July.
July 22, 2008
Jermaine Dye, who has been dealing with a bruised right knee, could be ready to return to Chicago's lineup Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Dye initially feared the injury was serious, but X-rays proved to be negative.

Our View:Dye has racked up 10 hits, one homer, and five RBI over his last five games, and hopefully he can pick up where he left off before getting hurt, possibly starting tonight.
July 20, 2008
Jermaine Dye was forced out of action against the Royals on Sunday after getting hit in the right knee by a pitch, according to the AP.

Our View:Brian Anderson replaced him in the outfield. We will keep you posted when more is known regarding Dye's injury.
July 18, 2008
The White Sox found solid offensive support in the 9-5 victory over the Royals this evening, led by outfielder Jermaine Dye . Dye went 3-for-4 with one walk, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

Our View:Dye is lighting it up this month, hitting .346 through July with three homers and eight RBIs.

Jermaine Dye homered in Chicago's 12-11 loss to the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon Dye went 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs. Dye lead the way in a 22-hit attack by the Sox.

Our View:Dye enters the All Star break hitting .306 with 21 home runs and 56 RBI.
July 10, 2008
Jermaine Dye didn't make the All-Star team on Thursday but he continued to produce on the field by going 2-for-4 with his 20th home runs of the season for the Sox.

Our View:Over his last 63 games, Dye has been a run producing monster with 18 home runs and 45 RBI. Dye is now hitting .301 with 20 home runs and 53 RBI as he has clearly returned to the type of hitter he was in 2006, and that means trouble for opposing pitchers.
June 28, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 2-for-3 with a home run helping the White Sox win their second straight over the crosstown rival Cubs 6-5 on Saturday afternoon.

Our View:Dye hit his 18th home run of the season and raised his average to .306 on the season.
June 25, 2008
Jermaine Dye has blasted seven home runs over his last eight games during which time he is batting .419 to push his season long average to the cusp of .300 at .297, according to MLB.com. "You don't want to get too caught up in hitting home runs. I try to stay from right-center to left-center, and take what the pitchers give me."

Our View:Dye is a solid run producer who has been unfairly compared to his near MVP season of 2006 when he hit .315-44-120, numbers he will likely never approach again. Still, there is nothing wrong with a guy continually knocks in over 80 runs with 25 or more home runs, numbers he is on pace to blow past this season thanks to the recent hot streak.
June 23, 2008
MLB.com reports that Jermaine Dye was named the AL Player of the Week for last week. The outfielder was 10-for-24 with five home runs, three doubles, and 13 RBI.

Our View:Dye has rebounded from a weak April and is now posting healthy power numbers while cutting down on his strikeouts. He remains a far better play at home than on the road, but expect him to continue to produce for the White Sox.
June 21, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 2-for-5 with three RBI in Saturday's 11-7 loss to the Cubs. Most of his damage came on a two-run homer.

Our View:He has 16 homers and 42 RBI over 69 games, and raised his average a few points to .294. Dye has homered in three-straight games, and in five of his last six.
June 19, 2008
Jermaine Dye hit two home runs helping the Chicago White Sox execute a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates 13-8 on Thursday afternoon.

Our View:The White Sox continue to tear the cover off the ball at home and Dye's two home runs raised his season total to 14. The right fielder also registered six RBI in the game giving him 38 on the season.
June 15, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 5-3 defeat to the Rockies in Chicago.

Our View:That was his first homer since June 6, and his second in the month. He only has six RBI in June as well, and was only hitting .235 for the month heading into tonight's contest.
June 12, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 0-for-3 but recorded Chicago's lone RBI (on a sacrifice fly) in Thursday's 2-1 loss to Detroit.

June 10, 2008
Jermaine Dye will bring his seven-game hitting streak to Detroit tonight, according to MLB.com. He is hitting .393 over the span.

Our View:Dye got off to a slow start this season, but has found his rhythm, and is hitting .333 over eight games in June.
May 28, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Wednesday's win over the Indians. The veteran outfielder is hitting .292 with seven homers in May.

Our View:Dye had been in a mini-slump, and it's nice to see him put one on the boooooooard....yyyeess! He's a safe start in all fantasy leagues.
May 21, 2008
Jermaine Dye got off to a slow start this year, but he's making up for lost time. The outfielder had a pair of home runs Wednesday and drove in four runs. Dye hit just .263 with one homer in April but has put together a .333-6-11 line this month.

Our View:Dye is looking to rebound from a subpar '07 season, and his .307-8-20 line suggests he could be on his way to accomplishing just that.
May 8, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 2-for-3 on Thursday with a home run, the third straight game he has gone yard.

Our View:Dye has pushed his average to .275 and he now has six home runs, though he only has knocked in 14 runs. Dye should finish between the two extremes he posted the past two years, making him a solid third outfielder in most leagues.
May 6, 2008
Jermaine Dye went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs, and two RBI in Tuesday's win against the Twins. The outfielder also managed not to strike out. He had whiffed 15 times in the previous 10 games.

Our View:A lingering groin injury has been bothering Dye, and it's good to see him have such a productive day. It might be a decent time for fantasy owners to buy low.
May 4, 2008
Jermaine Dye had a tough day at the plate in Sunday's 4-3 loss to Toronto. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, while leaving two men on base.

Our View:Dye has been slowed by a groin ailment, and only registered one hit over his last 20 at-bats. Keep him on your bench until he gets back on track and proves himself worthy of your starting lineup again.
April 29, 2008
Jermaine Dye will return to right field for the White Sox when they battle the Twins tonight, according to MLB.com. He was previously out of action while nursing a groin injury.

Our View:Dye only hit two homers over 20 games, but holds a solid .316 average. He should be penciled back into your lineups tonight, especially against opposing hurler Boof Bonser, who is 1-4 with a 4.34 ERA.
April 28, 2008
Jermaine Dye is out of the lineup for today's game against Baltimore as he is nursing a strained left groin, according to The Chicago Tribune. Nick Swisher moved over to his spot in right field, and Brian Anderson is covering center field. The game is currently in a rain delay.

Our View:Dye only registered two homers and nine RBI over 20 games, but held a .316 average before getting hurt. Manager Ozzie Guillen mentioned that Dye is healthy enough to return, but wanted to give him an extra day of rest.
April 25, 2008
Jermaine Dye will sit out Friday due to a strained left groin, according to the AP. He left Thursday's game against the Yankees in the seventh inning, and was replaced by Nick Swisher in right field. Alexei Ramirez moved from second base to center field to cover Swisher's spot.

Our View:The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined. Dye only has two homers over 20 games, but is hitting .316. Adjust your lineups accordingly.
April 12, 2008
