Agent Scott Boras was awarded $550,000 by an arbitrator, who decided he should be compensated for eliminating an option in the contract of Gary Sheffield that allowed him to become a free agent, according to the AP.

Our View:Boras negotiated the elimination of an $11 million option in 2004 that allowed Sheffield to be a free agent. Sheffield subsequently fired Boras and negotiated directly with the Yankees, signing a three-year deal with the club.

Gary Sheffield remains at 499 career home runs and has one last chance today against the White Sox to join the 500 club, according to Mlive.com.

Our View:Today's game will be played at hitter friendly U.S. Cellular Field against starting pitcher Gavin Floyd, who surrendered 30 homers this season.
September 26, 2008
Gary Sheffield went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's 6-4 win over the Rays. He hit a single and two solo homers.

Our View:Sheffield now has 499 career homers, with 19 coming this season.
September 22, 2008
Gary Sheffield was suspended for four games for his role in the Tigers-Indians game from last Friday, according to the Miami Herald. Sheffield will not appeal the suspension and will begin serving it immediately.

Our View:Sheffield's season of disgrace continues to roll on. He is hitting .223-17-54 in 404 AB this year an any hope he has of continuing to be a productive hitter will likely only occur if he suits up for another club next season as it's clear that he has worn out his welcome in Detroit.
September 20, 2008
Gary Sheffield charged Indians pitcher Fausto Carmona from first base after a pickoff throw, which incited a brawl on Friday. After the game, Sheffield warned Carmona, who has hit Sheffield three times, that things would get uglier if he was hit once more, according to the Detroit Free Press. "Three strikes, you out. And if there's a fourth, it gets more violent. Trust me," Sheffield said.

Our View:We're not entirely sure what that means, but it seems the only other thing Sheffield could do would be take his bat to the mound, and we sincerely hope he's not dumb enough to do that. Fantasy owners wish he brought more bat to the plate with him this year, as his batting average is a miserable .220.
