July 19, 2008 Who needs Francisco Liriano? Livan Hernandez held the Rangers to two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out a pair over seven innings Saturday to pick up his 10th win of the season. Our View:The 10 wins are nice, but there's no hiding the fact that Livan has been horrible this year, with a 5.29 ERA, 3.3 K/9 rate and 12.5 H/9 rate. We still expect Liriano to replace him in the rotation before long. |

July 9, 2008 Livan Hernandez allowed six runs on eleven hits, walked none and struck out two in an 18-5 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon. Our View:Hernandez was typical in the loss. The right-hander gave up 11 hits in 4.1 innings of work and with 173 hits in just over 100 innings, the right-handed veteran is on pace to allow 300 hits on the season. |

July 4, 2008 Livan Hernandez gave up three earned runs on five hits over six innings in Friday's 12-3 win over the division rival Indians at home, with three walks and four strikeouts. He allowed two homers, one to Kelly Shoppach and the other to Ben Francisco. Our View:Hernandez improves to 9-5, and is 3-1 over his last four starts. |

June 28, 2008 Livan Hernandez lost for the first time in three starts as the Milwaukee Brewers beat Minnesota 5-1 on Saturday night to end the Twins' 10-game winning streak. Livan allowed four earned runs on five hits, walked four and struck out five in the loss. Our View:The veteran fought through some early inning troubles to pitch seven innings, but did so by recording a season-high 115 pitches. Hernandez has allowed 157 hits in 110 innings this year. |

June 28, 2008 The Twins will be sending veteran Livan Hernandez to the mound today to keep the good vibes going against the Milwaukee Brewers, according to the Our View:The Twins have collected 10 consecutive wins and now sit just a half-game back of the AL Central leading Chicago White Sox. During this impressive stretch Minnesota swept National League opponents Washington, Arizona and San Diego, and are tied with the Kansas City Royals for the best record in interleague play this season at 13-3. Since going 0-3 over a span of six starts, Hernandez has won back-to-back starts, including a 5-3 decision over Arizona this past Sunday. The 33-year-old hurler is a perfect 6-0 in nine starts at home. |
