Newsbreakers
August 3, 2008
Outfielder David Dellucci has been held out of the starting lineup today as he struggles to overcome offensive shortcomings, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Dellucci was one of the catalysts in the Tribe's 5-1 win Saturday, with a single, double and two-run homer. It was his first three-hit game since April 13, 2007. The hope is that it serves as a jumping point for improvement. Signed by the Indians as a free agent prior to the 2007 season, Dellucci continues to be a fourth outfielder and gets some time at DH against right-handers. He entered Sunday hitting .234 in 252 at-bats this year.
August 2, 2008
David Dellucci went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's 5-1 win over Minnesota. He hit a single, double, and a two-run homer.

Our View:He enjoyed a big night, but was only hitting .226 over 248 at-bats heading into the game, and shouldn't be active in anything but deeper AL-only leagues.
April 28, 2008
With Grady Sizemore out of the lineup for the second straight game with a sprained ankle, Indians skipper Eric Wedge again turned to David Dellucci to handle the leadoff duties on Monday night in the final game of a four-game series against the Yankees.

Our View:Dellucci hit from the leadoff spot with the Rangers in 2005. That was the same season he hit a career-high 29 homers and had a career-best 65 RBI.
April 16, 2008
David Dellucci has been swinging a better bat at the plate, and as a result he will now hit in the second hole against right-handers, this according to MLB.com. Asdrubal Cabera, who is just 4-for-31 on the year, will drop down to the seventh spot. When they face a left handed pitcher, Jason Michaels will still inhabit the second spot.

Our View:Cabrera had better improve fairly quickly or the Indians might decide to recall Josh Barfield from the minors to battle for playing time at second base.
March 20, 2008
David Dellucci could be on the Rays' radar, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Tampa Bay is reportedly looking for a left handed hitting outfielder to platoon with Jonny Gomes in right field, and Dellucci notably has a high salary, ($7.75 million over the next two years). His arm is also better suited for left field than right, but Cleveland GM Mark Shapiro would not comment. Dellucci is currently nursing a sore left forearm, but manager Eric Wedge thinks it's just a day-to-day thing.
