Newsbreakers
September 14, 2008
Despite the worst season of his career, Lo Duca is not thinking about retirement and hopes to become a starting catcher again next season, the Washington Post reports.

Our View:Lo Duca turns 37 in April and may have to settle for a minor league contract after such a down year.
August 20, 2008
The Florida Marlins have installed Paul Lo Duca in their starting lineup, according to the Palm Beach Post. He is hitting second and playing catcher.

Our View:In no way does this mean Lo Duca should be picked up by fantasy teams. He has zero home runs and 12 RBI in 140 at-bats this season.
August 15, 2008
The Marlins called up Paul Lo Duca from Triple-A Albuquerque after Friday's game. He was signed last week to a minor league deal after being released by the Nationals.

Our View:Lo Duca could work his way into the stating lineup pretty regularly, as the Marlins' current crop of catchers is less than imposing.
August 8, 2008
Paul Lo Duca has inked a minor league deal with the Marlins, according to the Miami Herald. He is expected to report to Triple A Albuquerque. He said, "I'm happy to be back with the Marlins again. I want to be part of the postseason push. I haven't caught in three weeks so I'm going to go to Albuquerque where they are going to give me a little time catching. I just want a chance to contribute, hopefully to help the Marlins get to the playoffs."

Our View:The 36-year-old only hit .230 over 46 games with the Nationals this season, but could benefit from a change of scenery, and while playing for a pennant contender.
August 1, 2008
Nationals outfielder/first baseman/catcher Paul Lo Duca has been released by the team, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:This is not a huge surprise given Lo Duca's recent comments that the Nationals were weren't playing him behind the plate often enough. The .582 OPS and seven extra-base hits in 139 at-bats probably didn't help matters either.
