The Daily Herald reports that Alfonso Soriano took batting practice Friday and said his broken left hand is feeling "great." If all goes well, Soriano could join Class AAA Iowa Tuesday and Wednesday in Tucson and play in two games before rejoining the Cubs on Thursday at Wrigley Field for the game against Florida.

Our View:Expect Soriano to pick up right where he left off in a potent Cubs lineup.

Alfonso Soriano took batting practice before tonight's game and reaffirmed his earlier prognostication that he will return next week, according to Cubs.com. "I think I'm looking to come back next Thursday. My hand feels great, like nothing happened before," he said.

Our View:Soriano will begin an abbreviated rehab assignment soon and fantasy owners can expect to put him right back in their lineup Thursday when the Cubs take on the Marlins.

Alfonso Soriano has circled July 24 on his calendar as his desired return date, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He will go on a rehab assignment before returning from his broken hand. "I think I need it," Soriano said of the rehab assignment. "It's different than with my legs. It's my hands, so I have to test my hands and be confident with that. I have to go one or two games; three would be the most. I have to see some pitches and feel confident."

Our View:Soriano will hit in the cage this weekend with the Cubs, and if all goes well will begin a rehab on Monday.

Alfonso Soriano is expected to return to the Cubs' lineup either July 25 or 26 during a weekend series against the Marlins, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He is expected to take batting practice Friday in Houston, and will go on at least a short rehab assignment when he is ready to play.

Our View:The Cubs will need him big time in the second half of the season as they attempt to finally reach the World Series.

According to the Cubs team website manager Lou Piniella said Alfonso Soriano will not be ready in time for next week's game at Yankee Stadium.

Our View:Soriano and teammate Kosuke Fukudome were named to the National League All-Star outfield, and while Fukudome will play, Soriano will be a spectator.
