Ross Gload went 2-for-5 and chipped in two RBI in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Indians at Progressive Field. Both of his hits were singles.

Our View:Those were his first RBI of September, giving him 37 over 121 games for the season.

Ross Gload has fared well against Boof Bonser, today's opposing pitcher for Minnesota, according to MLB.com. He is hitting 7-for-20 over his career against Bonser.

Our View:Bonser is currently 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA, and Gload is worth penciling into your lineups today, as he is hitting .324 over 37 at-bats so far.

Alex Gordon figures to one day be the Royals third place hitter, but that likely will not happen this year as the team has Mark Teahen penciled into that spot. However, according to a report on MLB.com, the team might also consider using Ross Gload there. “I want backup options,” manager Trey Hillman said, “and I like Ross Gload, although he doesn’t have a lot of experience (in that role). I like his swing...I’m not announcing him as our No. 3 hitter. But it’s in the mix.” Wow. Gload could go from waiver-wire fodder to a prime spot in the Royals batting order. Still, chances seem pretty remote of this change actually happening, but if you like to play the long shots, you might consider grabbing Gload late in your draft to see what happens.
January 19, 2008
Ross Gload signed a two-year deal with the Royals that includes a club option for 2010. He'll make $3.2 million over the next two years; not bad change for a journeyman who turns 32 in the first month of the season.
July 1, 2007
Ross Gload was activated off the disabled list Saturday and started at first base against the White Sox, going 0-for-3. Gload is returning from a quadriceps injury, and he figures to play everyday at first while Ryan Shealy is out.
