John Bale, who is recovering from left shoulder tightness, is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday, according to the KC Star. He will work at Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Our View:Bale has missed the last 81 games because of left shoulder fatigue and a broken left hand. He is not worth waiting for as a fantasy prospect, as he allowed 13 earned runs over 15.1 innings this season prior to getting hurt, with a 0-3 record.
June 14, 2008
John Bale played catch from about 45 feet on Friday. He made roughly 20 throws, the John Bale reports. Bale is on the DL due to a broken left hand and sore left shoulder.

Our View:Bale busted his hand on May 4, and the recovery time called for a couple months. He was a starter before running into shoulder issues, but he may not have a spot when he is healthy.

John Bale has sustained a broken hand after punching the door at the team hotel on Friday, according to the Kansas City Star. Bale punched the door out of frustration for his slow recovery from a fatigued left shoulder. Manager Trey Hillman said, "I’m not pleased, obviously. Players have to think before they do things. They’ve got to think about how it’s going to affect the rest of their team, how it’s going to affect their ability to perform and how it’s going to affect the whole group. I’m hopeful that there’s something salvageable for him. We’ll just have to wait to see where it goes."

Our View:Bale reportedly won't be returning to active duty any time soon. He held a 1.83 WHIP and 7.63 ERA over 15.1 innings, with eight strikeouts, and isn't worth waiting for as a fantasy prospect.
May 2, 2008
John Bale is likely to go to the bullpen when he returns from the DL, according to the Kansas City Star. "I like John Bale being on this staff," manager Trey Hillman said. "If it ends up being three lefties and four righties in the bullpen, I think everybody is OK with that." Bale is scheduled to test his fatigued shoulder by throwing a live batting practice before Friday's game, and he'll throw another session before returning.

Our View:Bale posted a 7.63 ERA in three starts before his injury after looking good this spring. His fantasy value out of the bullpen is nil.
April 30, 2008
John Bale garnered praise from Manager Trey Hillman after testing his ailing left shoulder in a pre-game bullpen session on Tuesday, but he holds no guarantee of rejoining the rotation once he returns to active duty, according to the Kansas City Star. Hillman said, "It’s getting out of his hand well. He’s pain-free and, hopefully, we’re on the right track. I don’t know if we’re going to be within the time frame of the next couple of days. But at least he’s on the right track to get back."

Our View:Bale is eligible to return on Thursday from the DL following his bout with right shoulder tightness, but could move to the bullpen upon his return. He was 0-3 as a starter, with a 7.63 ERA and 1.83 WHIP.
