Newsbreakers
September 17, 2008
Alfredo Amezaga had a big night at the dish against the Astros. He accumulated four RBI in his 3-for-5 effort.

Our View:The Marlins had plenty of runners on base all night as they had 18 hits and drew seven walks. Despite hitting eighth in the lineup, Amezaga came through big with runners in scoring position.
July 2, 2008
Amezaga's only hit, a two-run home run in the seventh inning, lifted the Marlins past the Nationals on Wednesday.

Our View:In addition to the home run, Amezaga finished the day 1-for-3, with a run scored, and two RBI.

Alfredo Amezaga noted that he is hopeful his tight left groin will be healthy enough for him to play Tuesday, but he remains uncertain, according to the Miami Herald. He said, "I'm going to see how it goes."

Our View:Cody Ross should roam center field if Amezaga is not ready to return on Tuesday against the Rays.
June 22, 2008
Alfredo Amezaga injured his groin on Saturday and he is far from certain to be ready to go on Tuesday for the Marlins next game, according to the Palm Beach Post. "It's kind of bad," said Amezaga. "I've just got to find a way to play with pain and we'll see how it feels on Tuesday."

Our View:If Amezega is out, look for Cody Ross to pick up all the at-bats in center field for the Fish.
June 21, 2008
Alfredo Amezaga exited Saturday's game in the fourth inning because of tightness in his left groin. He was replaced by Robert Andino.

Our View:Amezega isn't running much this year (though he had a steal tonight before exiting), rendering him useless fantasy-wise. A groin ailment isn't likely to cause him to burn up the basepaths.
