Newsbreakers
December 23, 2008
The Pirates have not found a suitor for Jack Wilson, so it seems likely he will be with the club in 2009, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Wilson looks to bounce back next season after being slowed by a strained calf and broken finger in 2008. He could be a favorable value pick for deeper fantasy leagues.
December 19, 2008
As of now it looks like Jack Wilson will be staying with the Pirates and commented that he would like the team to be more competitive, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Wilson said, "The only thing I wish we could do was compete. I wish we could go out and get some more players to make our team competitive. And, you know, now that this whole trade thing has probably blown over, that's going to be my new focus on the Internet: Instead of looking for my name and where I might go, hopefully, we might get some players. Because we need them."

Our View:If Wilson stays in Pittsburgh, Ramon Vazquez will lend support as the primary backup at shortstop. Vazquez could see time at second base as well.
December 17, 2008
It is possible that Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson will not be moved as anticipated, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:The Dodgers have not contacted the Pirates even after losing out on Rafael Furcal, and no other teams have contacted them either. Wilson is overpaid, and despite being a competent fielder, his offensive upside is limited, and that goes for fantasy owners as well.
December 16, 2008
If the Dodgers miss out on Rafael Furcal, they may again look into acquiring the Pirates' Jack Wilson , according to MLB.com.

Our View:The Pirates may even be willing to pay some of Wilson's salary in order to deal a player they clearly overpaid.
December 11, 2008
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that only the Minnesota Twins are known to be interested in shortstop Jack Wilson, but the Los Angeles Dodgers could come back if their bid to re-sign free agent Rafael Furcal falls short.

Our View:It seems less and less likely that Wilson will be dealt anytime soon, but it appears he is clearly on the market. He appeared in just 87 games a season ago.
