Ray Durham is still bothered by his sore hamstring, and if he can't play by Tuesday night he will likely be out of the lineup until next weekend as the Pirates will throw left-handers on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View:Weeks has hit much better against southpaws this year with a .259/.392/.430 line in those situations, so it might make sense for him to over Durham even when he is healthy as Durham's production has been much worse (.224/.359/.329) against lefties.
September 21, 2008
Brewers second baseman Ray Durham will not play on Sunday as he continues to suffer from a strained right hamstring, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Durham left the team's game on Friday with the malady, and sat out Saturday's game as well. Rickie Weeks made his way back into the lineup and went 3-for-3 with a triple and home run.
September 19, 2008
The AP reports that Ray Durham left Friday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds in the fourth inning with a right hamstring strain. He had been caught stealing earlier in the evening.

Our View:Durham had been the starter at second base ever since interim manager Dave Sveum took over but do not be surprised if this injury keeps him out the rest of this series and perhaps longer.
September 9, 2008
Ray Durham was not in the starting lineup tonight against the Reds but he sure did make an impact. Durham hit a game-tying, three-run home run in the seventh inning but it was all for not as the Brewers continued to their slide losing, 5-4.

Our View:Durham has had a good impact for the Brewers and will continue to see at-bats against right-handers.
September 5, 2008
Ray Durham is in the starting lineup on Friday night against the Padres. It's his first start since spraining his shoulder on August 26th.

Our View:Durham should see plenty of starts against right-handers for the remainder of the month. He is hitting .301 off of them this season.
August 27, 2008
Ray Durham left Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals with a sprained shoulder and according the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Durham is not in the lineup for tonight's game.

Our View:There has been no news on how serious the shoulder injury is as of yet.
August 26, 2008
Ray Durham left Tuesday's game with a sprained shoulder.

Our View:We'll give you more info on Durham when we get it.
July 30, 2008
Ray Durham is in the lineup tonight for the Brewers after injuring his shin on Tuesday night, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View:Durham is 5-for-8 against Ryan Dempster, the Cubs starter tonight, so the team is hopeful that Durham will be able to continue that success. It is unclear if this is a changing of the guard with Rickie Weeks heading into the background, but it certainly is a situation to monitor closely over the next couple of days.
July 22, 2008
Ray Durham will sit out his second consecutive game since being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Our View:Durham is hitting .316 against righties and .221 against lefties. Still, this is the second night in a row that he is not starting against a RHP. Rickie Weeks, starting ahead of him, hits just .205 against right handers.
July 21, 2008
Ray Durham is pleased to join the Brewers, who he deemed a great team, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Durham said, "The Giants are going young and the Brewers are dying for a playoff spot. This is a great team. I hope I can help them get to the promised land."

Our View:He will play a couple times a week at second base over Rickie Weeks, and could also see action as a pinch-hitter. He is batting .293 and although he only has three home runs, his rate could go up while playing his home games at hitter-friendly Miller Park. He is worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues.
July 20, 2008
The SF Chronicle reports that there is strong indication that the Giants are finalizing a deal that would send second baseman Ray Durham to the Brewers. One of the Brewers' outfield prospects, Darren Ford, was pulled from the starting lineup Saturday, and is believed to be involved in the trade.

Our View:The Brewers are looking for a bench player who hits left-handed, and Durham fits the bill as a switch-hitter. He wouldn't hold much fantasy value while stuck behind Rickie Weeks on the Brewers' depth chart.
July 19, 2008
Ray Durham is dealing with flu-like symptoms for the second straight day and is not in Saturday's lineup.

Our View:Don't expect Durham to miss much more action.
July 18, 2008
The Milwaukee Brewers could be interested in obtaining Giants second baseman Ray Durham to use off the bench, according to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.

Our View:Durham has had a decent year, but if he is traded and used off the bench, his fantasy value would obviously take a hit. For now, the Brewers seem inclined to stick with Rickie Weeks and his sub-.220 batting average.
July 3, 2008
Ray Durham went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Cubs. He hit a single, a double, and a three-run homer.

Our View:He raised his average to .298 and recorded his first homer since May 28.
June 20, 2008
Ray Durham went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI on Friday night before being forced from the game due to a sprained ankle, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Emanuel Burriss replaced Durham and could see at-bats this weekend if the oft injured Durham is unable to go on Saturday.
June 12, 2008
Ray Durham recorded two hits and two RBI for the Giants and is now hitting .305 on the year. Durham's second hit was the 2,000th of his career.

Our View:Not a bad little career for Durham who has been hitting pretty darn well of late including a ultra impressive .405 average in June. If he's on waivers, you might consider adding him to your roster while he is hot.
June 12, 2008
Ray Durham is considering retirement after his 2008 campaign, according to the SF Chronicle. He said, "I don't know if I will retire after this season. I really have to sit down and think of things. I know it's the last year of my contract. More than that, I've missed a lot of my kids' growing up. That's what's going to be weighing on my mind in the offseason."

Our View:Durham will turn 37-years old in November, and the team will have a slew of talented young players fighting for the second base role in 2009 with Eugenio Velez, Travis Denker, and Kevin Frandsen, if healthy.
June 8, 2008
The Giants posted a total of 14 hits today in their 6-2 win over the Nationals with second baseman Ray Durham doing more than his fair share of the lifting. Durham went 4-for-5 on a day that included his 13th double of the season. Durham failed to drive in a run but did post a run scored.

Our View:The veteran is now hitting .306 in his 13th season in the league and his hitting .478 through the month of June, going 7-for-13 with two doubles and three runs scored in three games versus Washington.
June 6, 2008
Ray Durham was back in the starting lineup Friday after being limited to pinch-hitting duty Wednesday, according to MLB.com. The veteran was originally absent from the lineup, but he talked his manager, Bruce Bochy, into inserting him in there. "I didn't put him in there, and he came in and said he felt great and feels nothing in the calf," Bochy said. "So he's in there."

Our View:At last check, Durham had a couple hits in three at-bats, so apparently the calf isn't giving him any trouble.
June 4, 2008
Ray Durham, who strained a calf muscle while running the bases Tuesday, grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning of Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Mets. Skipper Bruce Bochy said Durham could play Friday's series opener at Washington after the team has a day off Thursday, this according to the AP.

Our View:Durham is an aging veteran who will receiver more days off moving forward. The second baseman has 18 RBI, 19 runs and two home runs in 147 at-bats this season.
June 3, 2008
Ray Durham went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs, and three RBI in Monday's win over the Mets.

Our View:Durham remains a shade of his former self, but the veteran second baseman did hit .313 in May. He's not a bad option if your fantasy team needs to fill an injury gap right now.
May 17, 2008
Ray Durham went 3-for-4 in Friday's 2-0 loss to the White Sox. He also stole his fith base of the season.

Our View:He accounted for three of the Giants' five hits. That was his second multi-hit game over his last three, and he raised his season average to .293. He would provide solid depth to your infield if available.
May 13, 2008
Ray Durham is a day or two away from returning to the Giants' lineup, according to the SF Chronicle. He is nursing a right hamstring strain.

Our View:The 36-year old infielder was due to miss some time this season. He is only hitting .247 but can still run as he has six doubles and four stolen bases over 33 games.
May 8, 2008
Ray Durham could be headed for the DL, according to CBSsports. He has been slowed by a tight right hamstring, and missed his third straight game on Wednesday.

Our View:Durham can still run as he has five stolen bases and seven doubles this season, but is 36-years old and was bound to break down at some point. Emmanuel Burriss and Eugenio Velez will platoon at second base if he lands on the DL.
April 15, 2008
Veteran Ray Durham continues to struggle at the plate for the San Francisco Giants, coming up short in today’s 8-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Durham went 0-for-3 leaving four runners on base, including a foul out in the 6th inning to first base.

Our View:It appeared Durham might have been dumping the funk with three hits against the St. Louis Cardinals over the final three days of a four-game set, but the veteran has once again gone cold and has not enjoyed a multi-hit performance since April 5th.
April 5, 2008
Ray Durham returned to the lineup on Saturday and had two hits and two RBI thanks in part to his first home run of the season. The Giants would like to move Durham in a trade to free up salary and space in the lineup for a youngster, but until he proves that he can stay healthy and hit better than the .218 mark he posted last year, he figures to remain a Giant.
April 4, 2008
Ray Durham is back on the bench on Friday, due in part to a bruised left shoulder. The Giants also want to give more time to Eugenio Velez. "A little bit of both, but more my decision [to play Velez]," manager Bruce Bochy admits to MLB.com. "I figured Durham still would be a little sore, but, honestly, I haven't talked with him. Velez is 100 percent [healthy] and he's playing well."
April 2, 2008
Ray Durham will not start on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. He is only 1-for-6 at the plate so far, and on Tuesday he dove to smother pinch-hitter Delwyn Young's ninth-inning grounder (with two outs) but couldn't come up with the ball cleanly and threw to first as Rafael Furcal scored the winning run. Durham was also shaken up in the eighth inning, as he landed hard on his left shoulder as James Loney broke up a double play. Bochy commented, "He had a lot of action out there tonight (Tuesday), so he's going to get a day off." Eugenio Velez is expected to replace Durham in the lineup.
March 26, 2008
Ray Durham missed a sixth straight game on Tuesday, this time due to flu-like symptoms. The veteran is expected to be ready for opening day, but his job is far from secure. "We've said from Day One that the veterans are going to be responsible for holding down their jobs if they can," general manager Brian Sabean tells the San Jose Mercury News. "These other kids are ready. Who knows? It might be as soon as opening day. We haven't made any hard and fast decisions. The best players are going to play." Eugenio Velez's fantasy owners are rejoicing.
March 20, 2008
Ray Durham was scratched from Thursday's starting lineup with tightness in his left hamstring, this according to the Giants team website. The report noted that the injury to the 36-year-old is not serious and he could return as soon as Friday. Durham played all nine innings of Wednesday night's 4-2 exhibition loss to the Chicago Cubs, reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances and continues to enjoyed a successful spring. The aging veteran has little fantasy value outside of NL-only formats but has outplayed utilityman Kevin Frandsen for the second-base job.
February 29, 2008
Ray Durham had been ruled out of Friday's game because of a sore right shoulder, but he played in the game from the DH spot, going 0-for-3 with a walk. The veteran had an MRI on the shoulder yesterday, which showed no structural damage, according to the AP. Manager Bruce Bochy said Durham looked rusty and wouldn't throw until next week.
February 29, 2008
Ray Durham missed Thursday's game to go get an MRI on his sore right shoulder, according to the Contra Costa Times. He's already been ruled out for Friday's game. We'll have the results of the MRI as soon as they're released, but it's not a good sign when an aging veteran's heading for an MRI this early on.
February 18, 2008
Ray Durham is ready to resume what was once a productive career after last season's debacle in which he hit only .218 for the Giants according to a report on the AP. "Every year you're going to have a guy wanting to take your job. That's the nature of it. I've got to do what I've got to do. The way I look at it now, it's my job to lose, and if I go out and lose it, I lose it." The other player who may take the spot is youngster Kevin Frandsen, though with $7 million invested in Durham this season, you have to figure the team will give him plenty of leeway in his attempt to hold on to his job.
February 13, 2008
Ray Durham will face a stiff battle for playing time from Kevin Frandsen this year after hitting .218 last season for the Giants according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I think that the best policy is to be honest," manager Bruce Bochy said. "...[Durham's] got a real good, talented player (Kevin Frandsen) who's trying to get that job, and it's going to be a close call and it's going to be deep in spring before we know who's going to be out there." The report also went on to say that if Durham can hold off Frandsen that Kevin could battle with Rich Aurlia for AB in the infield, and at this point the team still doesn't have a 3B so it's possible that Frandsen could end up shifting across the diamond leaving second base for Durham.
