Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports suggests that the Indians could be interested in pursuing Mark Grudzielanek or Craig Counsell.

Our View:The Indians would need to decide if either of the aforementioned players would be an upgrade over Josh Barfield, Jamie Carroll and Luis Valbuena, who are all competing at second base. The club could move Asdrubal Cabrera to shortstop and Jhonny Peralta to third.

The Kansas City Star reports that two NL West teams, the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks, are interested in free agent Mark Grudzielanek.

Our View:Grudzielanek is a solid hitter who could be able to do some things for fantasy owners outside of mixed leagues.

The Kansas City Star reports that Mark Grudzielanek has declined the Royals' offer of arbitration.

Our View:The veteran second baseman hit .299 in 86 games last season. He had previously indicated he was likely to decline the offer in hopes of signing with a team “with a better (chance) to reach the World Series.”

On Monday, the Royals offered arbitration to Mark Grudzielanek only hours before the deadline, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Grudzielanek is still a good option at second base. In 2008 he dealt with some injuries but in 86 games he hit .299 with 24 RBI.

The Royals have to decide whether to offer Mark Grudzielanek salary arbitration, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:The 14-year vet batted .299 with the Royals in 2008 prior to suffering a season-ending ankle injury on August 1. Grudzielanek is as a Type-B free agent, which would give the Royals a sandwich pick between the first and second rounds of next June’s new-player draft if another MLB team decides to sign him.
