Alexis Gomez has signed a minor league deal with the Tigers, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:The 30-year-old outfielder will be returning to Detroit after serving the 2008 campaign with the Marlins. Skipper Jim Leyland likes his power potential, but noted that he only displays it in batting practice.

Little-used backup Alexis Gomez hit a two-run homer and a two-run single in his first postseason game on Wednesday. Gomez split the season between Detroit and Triple-A Toledo, driving in just six runs for the Tigers in the entire regular season before making the postseason roster as a spare outfielder.
