November 20, 2008 The Cubs' talks for Jake Peavy have ended due to budget limitations, but GM Jim Hendry said he is still interested in the ace hurler, according to the Hot Stove Blog on Our View:Peavy will make $11 million in 2009 and is owed $63 million over the remainder of his contract. The Cubs state they would need to be very creative with their finances and get another club involved to swing a deal for Peavy. |

November 19, 2008 Chicago Cubs have ended trade talks with the San Diego Padres for Jake Peavy, according to the Our View:First the Braves and now it looks like the Cubs are out of the Peavy race. Since the Cubs signed Ryan Dempster that pretty much took them out of the race for the starter. |
