December 15, 2008 As expected, ace hurler Daisuke Matsuzaka has been named to Japan's team for the World Baseball Classic, according to the Our View:Japan won the inaugural WBC back in 2006 and will defend its title in the 2009 tournament which starts on March 5 in Tokyo. Notable players from Japan's professional leagues included on the team are hurlers Yu Darvish of the Nippon Ham Fighters and Hisashi Iwakuma of the Rakuten Eagles. |

November 21, 2008 Daisuke Matsuzaka has confirmed that he will play for Japan in the World Baseball Classic next March, according to Our View:Dice-K was the MVP of the 2006 tournament as Japan emerged victorious.
