MLB.com reports that former All-Star left-hander Chris Capuano is close to finalizing an incentive-laden Minor League contract with the Brewers.

Our View:Capuano, an 18-game winner in 2005 and an All-Star in 2006 who missed all of '08 after his second major elbow surgery, briefly became a free agent on Friday when the Brewers chose not to tender him a contract for next season.

Chris Capuano was non-tendered by the Brewers on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:This doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Capuano missed the entire 2008 season after having Tommy John surgery in May.
September 2, 2008
Chris Capuano has been transferred from the 15 to the 60-day DL, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The team moved him to free up a roster spot for infielder Mat Gamel.

Our View:In case you don't recall, Capuano is out for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in May.
May 16, 2008
Chris Capuano underwent a successful second Tommy John surgery Thursday after an exploratory procedure revealed a complete tear of the ulnar collateral ligament, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Normal recovery time for Tommy John is a year, but since it's Capuano's second operation, it's possible it could take him a little longer.
