Chien-Ming Wang signed a one-year deal with the Yankees for $5 million on Monday, according to the Yankees' official site. The deal allowed the Yankees to avoid arbitration.

Our View:Wang went 8-2 last year before missing the majority of the season due to a foot injury that he sustained while running the bases at Houston.

Chien-Ming Wang threw a bullpen session earlier this week, and was also checked out by a doctor, who labeled the Yankees hurler as 100 percent healthy, according to the Lower Hudson Journal News.

Our View:Wang was off to a good start last season at 8-2 when he injured his foot running the bases in an interleague game in June, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season. He'll once again be a solid fantasy option next season.

Chien-Ming Wang threw 25 pitches Friday in his first throwing session off a bullpen mound since hurting his foot in June, according to the AP. Wang partially tore a tendon and sprained his right foot running the bases during the Yankees’ 13-0 interleague win at Houston on June 15. “It’s better. It’s good,” Wang said. Wang also made 20 throws off a half-mound before the bullpen session.

Our View:The right-hander was 8-2 with a 4.07 ERA in 15 starts before his season-ending injury. He won 19 games in both 2006 and 07.
September 14, 2008
Wang (foot) played catch on Sunday, reports MLB.com. He is on track to be ready for spring training next season.

Our View:This is encouraging news for the Yankees' starter.

Manager Joe Girardi believes Chien-Ming Wang is unlikely to be available to pitch in October if the Yankees make the playoffs, according to the NY Daily News. He is still wearing a walking boot on his injured right foot.

Our View:It was previously believed that he may be able to pitch in the playoffs, but that no longer looks to be the case. The Yankees are 11 games back in the AL East, with 37 contests to go.
