Newsbreakers
November 9, 2008
If the Angels acquire third baseman Garrett Atkins from the Rockies, Chone Figgins may be moved to left field to replace Garret Anderson.

Our View:Figgins has proved to be extremely versatile for the Angels in years past, and his speed may be a plus in the outfield for the Angels.
October 5, 2008
Chone Figgins will look to stir things up for the Angels in their attempt to extend their season with a victory against the Red Sox in Game 3 of the ALDS, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Mark Teixeira, Vladimir Guerrero and Torii Hunter are hitting .609 through two games while the rest of the offense is a sickly 6-for-50 (.120). If Figgins and the others in the lineup don't get going, it will be a long night against Josh Beckett and the Sox.
October 4, 2008
Chone Figgins was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI in Friday's 7-5 loss to the Red Sox. His triple was the Halos first and only extra base hit of the season and he scored on a Mark Teixeira sac fly to tie the game in the eighth.

Our View:Remarkably, Chone had just one triple in 116 regular season game. The Angels will need more performances like this from their leadoff hitter if they want to get back into this series.
September 21, 2008
Chone Figgins is back in the Angels lineup, leading off and playing third base, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View:Figgins had been out since early in the week with a bruised triceps. Fantasy owners can feel free to put him back in their lineup, and hopefully he'll resume thieving bases.
September 19, 2008
MLB.com reports that the results from Chone Figgins' MRI and CT scan revealed a deep contusion of the triceps tendon in his right elbow. "It's just a bruised triceps," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He's feeling better. It's a relief for us. When he's ready, we'll put him back at third base."

Our View:The last bit Scioscia had to say was particularly interesting, because there had been speculation that Figgins might shift over to play second base because regular second baseman Howie Kendrick still is on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Consider Figgins day-to-day, but he may miss the entire weekend series with the Rangers.
