Newsbreakers
September 27, 2008
Chris Young won his seventh game of the year on Saturday night against the Pirates. In six innings Young gave up one run on five hits and also struck out five.

Our View:In 2009 Young will look to have a bounce back year after 2008 was filled with time on the DL. In his 17 starts Young was 7-6 with 93 strike outs.
September 20, 2008
Chris Young hurled seven scoreless innings, with only two hits allowed, in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Nationals, with four walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:Other than the four free passes, it was a great outing for him. He is only 2-2 over his last seven starts, but should be considered for fantasy lineups in his final outing next week against the Pirates.
September 14, 2008
Chris Young allowed three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings in Saturday's 7-0 loss to the Giants, with one walk and nine strikeouts.

Our View:He pitched well enough to win, but was dealt a no decision due to a lack of run support from his teammates. His record remains even at 5-5 over 16 starts.
September 7, 2008
Young came within four outs of a perfect game on Sunday before allowing a home run to Gabe Kapler. He finished the game with his fifth win of the season, allowing two hits, one run, no walks and striking out five.

Our View:There's the Chris Young we saw last season. It has been a trying season for Young's owners, but hopefully this is a sign that he has turned things around for the stretch run.
September 1, 2008
In his return from the DL, Chris Young fell to 4-5 as he allowed six hits, three walks and four runs over five innings against the Dodgers.

Our View:Young threw 50 of his 80 pitches for strikes tonight in an uneven return to the hill. Given that the Padres will go with a 6-man rotation, Young loses his two-start eligibility for this week.
