Newsbreakers
December 9, 2008
The Twins have had internal discussions about Jorge Cantu, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:The Twins were in on Casey Blake but have to look at other options now that he's signed with the Dodgers.
December 8, 2008
News continues to circulate regarding a trade between the Pirates and Giants involving Jorge Cantu for hurler Jon Sanchez, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

Our View:This appears to be a rumor, as the Giants would likely need more than Cantu to unload the left-handed Sanchez.
December 5, 2008
The White Sox have reportedly displayed interest in Jorge Cantu, according to ESPN.

Our View:The White Sox could use help at the hot corner, and Cantu would be a solid fit as he blasted 29 homers with 95 RBI over 155 outings with the Marlins in 2008.
December 3, 2008
Jorge Cantu could be traded to the Giants in exchange for starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View:Cantu was solid last year, batting .277 with 29 home runs and 95 RBI. The Giants would like to play him at third base to give them more offensive production there than Rich Aurilia did last season.
September 19, 2008
Jorge Cantu continues to crush. On Friday, his victims were from Philadelphia and were witnesses to his 3-for-5 performance. He hit his 31st home run of the season, scored three times, and tallied two more RBI.

Our View:Cantu has been absolutely stroking it over the past week. He is 14-for-34 with six home runs in his past eight games. They haven't been meaningless hits either. He has racked up 18 RBI in the process.
