Gavin Floyd lasted just three innings on Monday night as he allowed the Rays to scored four runs as the White Sox were eliminated from the playoffs.

Our View:Floyd was taken deep by B.J. Upton twice in the outing as he regressed to the merely average hurler he was for most of the month of September before that great final outing against the Tigers. Floyd just didn't have it tonight, but that doesn't detract from a truly solid campaign (17 wins, 3.84 ERA, 1.26 WHIP).

Gavin Floyd pitched well in a must-win game against the Detroit Tigers on Monday. He earned the win after throwing six innings, striking out eight and allowing just one earned run.

Our View:The young pitcher was throwing on just three-days rest and earned his 17th win of the season. He finishes the regular season with a 3.84 ERA and could be a fantasy force for many years to come.

Gavin Floyd will start in a must-win game for the White Sox on Monday according to the AP. They will be facing the Tigers in a makeup game and if they win, they will be tied with Minnesota for first place in the AL Central.

Our View:Floyd has not been very sharp in September. His last start against the Tigers was on August 5th and lasted just four innings. He gave up five runs on eight hits including two home runs to Placido Polance and Curtis Granderson. He avoided the loss. For his career, he is 3-0 with a 3.45 ERA in eight starts against the Tigers.

As the White Sox and Twins battle for the AL Central crown, Chicago will send hurler Gavin Floyd to the mound, which might mean off nights for Twins cornerstones Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer. Combined, they have hit just .212 (7-for-33) off the lefty.

Our View:Chicago needs this game in the worst way, as they have lost the first two games of the series and will fall back to second place with another loss. If Floyd can contain Morneau and Mauer, the Sox will obviously have a much better chance of success.
September 20, 2008
Gavin Floyd issued five earned runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings in Saturday's disappointing 5-2 loss to the Royals, with no walks and four strikeouts.

Our View:Floyd was pitching on short rest (three days) as the Sox were lining up their starters for next week's showdown with the AL Central rival Twins. He falls to 16-8 following the loss, and has pitched 194.2 innings, which is higher than his total innings over his previous four seasons in the majors (178.2).
