Newsbreakers
September 23, 2008
Rockies pitcher Aaron Cook will not make another start this season, as he has decided to end his year with complete health, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View:Cook had a solid year for fantasy owners, picking up 16 wins with a 3.96 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. His lack of strikeouts prevent him from being an elite hurler for fantasy purposes, as he struck out just 96 batters in 211.1 innings.
September 20, 2008
Aaron Cook allowed two earned runs on five hits over 6.1 innings in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Arizona, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Our View:Cook was dealt a no decision, and is winless over his last four starts. Cook doesn't register many strikeouts (has 96 over 32 starts), and should only be considered for NL-only leagues heading into the final week of the season.
September 14, 2008
Aaron Cook worked eight shutout innings on Sunday allowing just eight base runners against the Dodgers. Unfortunately he didn't pick up the win as the game was scoreless into extra innings.

Our View:After this outing, his 31st start, Cook owns a solid 4.00 ERA though he has still failed to reach the 100-K mark (he has 92). The 16 victories help to offset that terribly low strikeout total.
August 30, 2008
Aaron Cook gave up two earned runs on five hits over six innings in Friday's 9-4 win over the Padres, with two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View:His strikeouts are low (87 over 188 innings) and his ERA (3.88) could be better as a fantasy starter, but he should remain a solid source for wins (16) heading down the stretch in September.
August 29, 2008
It has been a little bit of a struggle for Aaron Cook since the All-Star break and according to the Rocky Mountain News some scouts have said that Cook has lost the sink on his sinker. Since the break Cook has an ERA of 4.98.

Our View:Cook's ERA and WHIP are a little high for an elite starter but he does have 15 wins on the year and 84 strikeouts in 182-innings.
