MLB.com reports that catcher Yadier Molina was awarded his first Gold Glove of his career on Wednesday.

Our View:Molina has been one of the top catchers in the game since he won a regular starting job. He was robbed of the award last season when Brad Ausmus took it home.
September 23, 2008
Manager Tony LaRussa commented that he expects Yadier Molina to return at some point during the Cardinals' final seven games, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The team is still reluctant to put him in position where he can aggravate his bruised thigh.
September 21, 2008
Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is unsure when he will be able to return from his deep thigh bruise, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I thought it was going to take two or three days," Molina remarked.

Our View:Molina has had a solid year behind the plate, but offers fantasy owners little in any one statistic. He is best suited for NL-only leagues.
September 19, 2008
Yadier Molina remains bothered by his deep quad bruise, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Manager Tony LaRussa is not optimistic Molina will return to action for this weekend's series against the Cubs, and believes he is more likely to return when the Cardinals start a homestand against Arizona Monday.
September 18, 2008
Again on Thursday, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was not in the lineup due to a nagging thigh injury, according to the Cardinals official web site. Molina suffered the injury on September 10th and has only played in one game since then.

Our View:The team has said that Molina might return when the Cardinals return home next Monday but they even say that might not be the case. Molina has had his best year at the plate, hitting .305.
September 17, 2008
Yadier Molina missed his fifth start in six games Tuesday due to his ailing left thigh, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The team is unclear as to when Molina may return to the lineup. Jason LaRue should continue to fill in at catcher until Molina is ready to play.
September 14, 2008
Molina was removed from Sunday's game after reaggravating his left thigh injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View:He will probably be out a little longer this time. Jason LaRue should start in Molina's place. You will probably want to bench Molina this week if you have other options.
September 14, 2008
Molina is expected to be in the lineup on Sunday after missing time with a bruised thigh, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Our View:Get him back in your lineup.
September 13, 2008
Yadier Molina is nearing his return to the Cardinals following his bout with a bruised left thigh, according to MLB.com.

Our View:He could start Sunday's game against the Pirates. He is not entirely pain-free but manager Tony LaRussa believes he is good enough to pencil back into the lineup. Molina should be penciled back into fantasy lineups as well, as he holds a solid .306 batting average.
September 11, 2008
Yadier Molina is expected to miss a few days after a collision at the plate with Ted Lilly. Molina has a sore thigh and a bruised shoulder, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Molina has been a big surprise at the plate this year with an average of .306. Now that Molina will miss a few games it will definitely hurt the chances of the Cardinals' playoff hopes.
September 10, 2008
Yadier Molina had to leave the Cardinals game with the Cubs in the fifth inning due to a bruised thigh, according to the Associated Press. He was replaced in the lineup by Jason LaRue.

Our View:Currently in the top-10 in the NL batting race at .308, if Molina were lost for any length of time the already small playoff hopes of the club would likely be dashed. Molina had suffered the injury in the second inning when he was run over by, of all people, Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly who did his best impression of Matt Forte.
August 22, 2008
Yadier Molina went 4-for-5, scored two runs and drove in four as the Cardinals bludgeoned the Braves 18-3.

Our View:Molina had four of the team's astounding 26 hits, and fantasy owners in NL-only leagues could certainly do worse at the catcher position.
August 21, 2008
Yadier Molina was scratched from the lineup Wednesday due to a bruised foot, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The ailment is believed to be minor, and Molina is considered day-to-day.
July 30, 2008
Yadier Molina has five hits in his last two games to push his average up to .307 on the year, the ninth best mark in the National League.

Our View:Molina actually has hits 5-straight games and is hitting .341 over his last 85 AB. After hitting .216 in 2006, Molina improved to .275 last year and seems intent on bettering that total yet again this season.
July 11, 2008
Yadier Molina continues to dominate lefties. He entered Friday nights game batting .373 against southpaws and manager Tony La Russa batted him fifth. He went 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI.

Our View:Molina is quietly becoming a viable starting option at the position. He is hitting .303 with just 13 whiffs this season. However, he is still suffering in the power categories. A batting spot fifth in the order against lefties should help his RBI totals.
July 10, 2008
Yadier Molina went 1-for-4 and drove in the only run for the Cardinals in their loss to Philadelphia. He is hitting .303 on the season.

Our View:Molina is lauded for his defense, but he has had a nice season offensively, with four home runs and 27 RBI. He should certainly be considered in all fantasy formats.
July 5, 2008
Yadier Molina went 1-for-3 on Saturday to extend his hitting streak to 12 games for the Cardinals.

Our View:Not many people have noticed that Molina is hitting a robust .307 through 251 AB marking him as one of the surprising players at the catcher position. Unfortunately he has little power (four home runs), and no speed (19 runs and zero SB), but he is proving to be a significant asset in the batting average category.
June 22, 2008
The Cardinals have fielded Yadier Molina at first base today, giving Molina his first time on the playing field since suffering a concussion last week, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Molina served as the designated hitter in the series opener on Friday. However, the imPACT concussion screening that he receives daily showed regression in his condition on Saturday, so Molina was held out of the lineup entirely on Saturday. He still has not been cleared to catch, but the club considered first base a suitable assignment.
June 21, 2008
Yadier Molina was held out of the lineup Saturday due to a regression in his performance on the imPACT concussion screening exam, according to MLB.com. Molina started at DH on Friday and hit a home run, and even though he said he did not feel any different on Saturday than he did on Friday, he was not clear due to the screening results. "He didn't score as well today as he did last night," manager Tony La Russa said. "It could have been the stress of playing. We figured we were best just to give him the whole day off."

Our View:The Cards don't want to take any chances on Yadi. He could possibly start at DH again Sunday, but don't expect him to be behind the plate for another few days.
June 19, 2008
Yadier Molina will travel with the team for their set against Boston on Friday, according to MLB.com. Manager Tony LaRussa said, "He's feeling better, but Molina has not been cleared yet to play."

Our View:Jason LaRue will continue to serve as the starting catcher until Molina is ready to resume his role. LaRussa is yet to set a timetable for his return, but it is a good sign that he is making the trip to Boston.
June 17, 2008
Yadier Molina has recovered surprisingly well from his mild concussion, and he could return to the lineup sometime this week, according to MLB.com. The catcher suffered the injury when the Phillies' Eric Brunlett collided with him on Sunday. "The pain in my neck went away," said Molina. "The neck feels fine. My body feels fine. It's just the headaches. I'm going out, going to stretch with the team, try to run out on the field. If I feel fine, a couple of days and I'll be back."

Our View:Molina is still feeling some effects from the concussion, so you can expect that the Cards will use him only in an emergency over the next few games, but it appears at this point that he'll avoid a DL stint. Jason LaRue will be the primary catcher while Molina is out.
June 17, 2008
Yadier Molina, who is recovering from a mild concussion, has been released from the hospital on Monday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The team remains hopeful he can avoid the DL and GM John Mozeliak said (after his hospital visit), "He was in good spirits. He said he felt better."

Our View:The Cardinals did not bring in another catcher, and the team is waiting to see how Molina improves. The team will be looking for persistent fatigue and headaches.
June 16, 2008
Yadier Molina is not likely to land on the DL, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He sustained a mild concussion during Sunday's hard collision at home plate during battle with the Phillies, and it looked worse than it actually turned out to be.

Our View:This is good news, but the team is expected to call up a catcher to serve as backup to Jason LaRue while Molina recovers, and will likely trim a pitcher to make room on the roster.
June 15, 2008
It has been disclosed that Yadier Molina suffered a mild concussion during Sunday's brutal collision at home plate against the Phillies, and he will be kept overnight in the hospital as a precaution, according to MLB.com.

Our View:The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined. Jason LaRue will handle the catching duties while he Molina is out of action.
June 15, 2008
Yadier Molina was involved in a collision at home plate with Eric Bruntlett of the Phillies. During an attempted tag -- Molina took a hard hit in an awkward position -- and had to be carried off the field after the medical team secured his neck. Molina landed as if he had no movement in his lower extremities and never moved during the five minutes he laid on the ground waiting for the doctor to arrive. The injury looks to be serious.

Our View:We will update you as soon as information becomes unavailable.
June 3, 2008
The Cardinals put the 6-1 hurt on the Washington Nationals this evening with catcher Yadier Molina leading the charge. Molina went 2-for-5 at the dish with his third homer of the season, good for three RBIs on the night.

Our View:Molina is now 8-for-19 over his last five games with five RBIs and four runs scored.
May 28, 2008
The Cardinals didn't have a ton of offense this evening, but catcher Yadier Molina came through and helped his team earn the 6-1 win over Houston. Molina went 2-for-4 with two singles, totaling two RBIs and a run scored on the night.

Our View:Molina has hit rather well through May, posting a batting average of .308 for the month with 13 RBIs and just five strikeouts.
May 14, 2008
St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina has been fined an undisclosed amount but will avoid suspension following his ejection from Monday's battle with Milwaukee, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Our View:Molina was arguing calls with home plate umpire Paul Schrieber before being ejected, at which time Molina disrobed of his equipment and left his gear all over the field.
May 13, 2008
Yadier Molina will likely be facing disciplinary action from the team as a result of his temper tantrum on Monday night, according to the Associated Press. “We’ll hear something,” manager Tony La Russa said of Molina's eruption after arguing balls and strikes. “It’s not going to go unnoticed.”

Our View:It was quite a scene actually with Molina leaving all his gear at home plate, so we give him points for style. If/when he is suspended, look for Jason LaRue to take over behind the plate.
May 8, 2008
Yadier Molina had two hits and an RBI as he continues to ride right along with a .302 batting average.

Our View:Molina doesn't offer much power or any ability to score runs, but he really appears to have turned the corner in the batting average category marking him as a useful play in NL Only leagues.
May 3, 2008
Yadier Molina hit his second homer of the season in Saturday's 9-3 loss to the Cubs. He went 2-for-3 overall, with one RBI.

Our View:Molina holds a .289 average with 10 RBI over 26 games. His average is solid, but he still isn't worth starting in standard mixed leagues (unless you start two catchers).
April 22, 2008
Yadier Molina will ride the pine in favor of Jason LaRue at catcher today, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The team is facing left-handed pitcher Manny Parra of Milwaukee today.

Our View:He only has one homer and seven RBI this season with a .246 average, and isn't worth starting in standard mixed leagues anyway (unless you start two catchers).
April 5, 2008
Yadier Molina had two hits and two RBI on Saturday in the Cardinals 5-4 victory over the Nationals. Molina is nothing more than a catcher two in all but NL Only leagues, but he did hit .275 last season to offer hope that he could be a decent depth play even if the power never comes around.
April 3, 2008
Yadier Molina is not in the Cardinals' lineup today, as Jason LaRue is starting at catcher. Molina notably suffered through a poor spring training and is only hitting 2-for-8 so far in the regular season.
March 20, 2008
Yadier Molina continues to struggle this spring as he went 0-for-4 against the Orioles on Wednesday, while leaving eight men on base. His spring average now sits at .209.
February 14, 2008
Yadier Molina, who is coming off 2007 season ending surgery, lost 10 to 15 pounds this winter, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The feared arm of Molina is a plus for the Cards defense, but his offense must improve if he is to be considered a fantasy option in mixed formats.
January 21, 2008
Yadier Molina inked a four-year, $15.5 million deal with the Cardinals Monday. The deal includes a $7 million club option for 2012. Molina is primarily known for his defense, but he did hit a career-best .275 in 2007.
