Newsbreakers
September 2, 2008
Dallas McPherson has been promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:He led the minors with 42 homers this season, and looks to provide a powerful bat off the bench for the Marlins. If he had a chance to start, he would be worth picking up, but he only merits consideration in deeper NL-only leagues as a reserve.

Dallas McPherson could be one of the players Florida calls up on Monday when rosters expand, according to FloridaMarlins.com.

Our View:McPherson has hit 42 home runs in the minor leagues, more than anybody else, and could provide some pop off the bench for the Marlins.
July 1, 2008
Dallas McPherson was named the PCL minor league Player of the Week after hitting .474-4-9-6-2, according to MILB.com. McPherson now has 28 home runs on the year thanks to hitting one in a PCL record 7-straight games (June 18-27).

Our View:McPherson leads his team in strikeouts (97) though he also leads the club in walks (50). The good news is that he is healthy again and at some point all this hitting will result in a call up to the Marlins.
June 27, 2008
According to the Marlins' team website, Dallas McPherson has been hitting the cover off the ball in Triple-A Albuquerque. The Isotopes' third baseman went yard for the sixth straight game. McPherson has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games. "Things are going well for me right now," he said. "I feel good at the plate and things are slowing down. I've been getting ahead in the count, getting good pitches and making the best of my swings."

Our View:Over that span McPherson is hitting .404 (21-for-52) with eight homers and 14 RBI. He raised his average to .309. When or if the third baseman will get a chance with the Fish again hasn't been determined.
May 19, 2008
Dallas McPherson hit three home runs for Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, giving him 15 home runs this season.

Our View:The Angels’ former top prospect has nothing left to prove in the minors, but the oft-injured power hitter has never been consistent in the majors. The Marlins are very much in contention for the time being, and Jorge Cantu has been able to hold down the fort at the hot corner in spite of poor defensive skills. McPherson is worth a look if he gets a call-up, but that does not seem to be imminent.
