August 24, 2008 Ervin Santana tries for win No. 14 when the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim wrap up a four-game series with the Minnesota Twins this afternoon at Angel Stadium, according to the Our View:Santana, an All-Star for the first time this season, has been a pleasant surprise for the AL West-leading Angels in 2008, having gone 13-5 with a 3.39 earned run average. Santana had been sent to Triple-A for a time last season due to ineffectiveness following a career-best 16 wins in 2006. The 25-year-old right-hander was good enough to get a win on Tuesday in Tampa Bay, but did not factor in the decision of his team's 4-2 loss despite surrendering just a run and four hits in seven innings. Santana defeated the Twins the last time he faced them and is 2-1 lifetime against Minnesota with a 3.42 ERA in four starts. |

August 19, 2008 Ervin Santana was brilliant again on Tuesday, but the bullpen blew his lead. The right-hander held the Rays to four hits and one run over seven innings. He also struck out nine batters. Our View:Fantasy owners would have liked the win, but we'll take the ERA, WHIP, and strikeouts. |

August 1, 2008 Ervin Santana shutout the Yankees for eight innings before being replaced by Francisco Rodriguez who finished off the Yankees for his 45th save of the season in the Angels 1-0 victory over the Yanks. Our View:Santana improved to 12-5 with his masterful performance that included eight strikeouts and just two walks in his first win in three tries since the All-Star break. |

July 22, 2008 Ervin Santana fell to 11-4 with a loss against the Indians on Monday night. The right-hander allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings. He walked none, struck out eight, and allowed two homers. Our View:Santana didn't have his best stuff, but he pitched well enough to win. The offense didn't have his back on Monday, but Ervin remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues. |
