Hudson exited after just 13 pitches of a scheduled two-inning appearance. He is trying to bounce back from right shoulder surgery, which he underwent last June 28.

January 9, 2008 The Royals avoided arbitration by signing Luke Hudson Wednesday to a one-year deal worth a little more than $500,000. Hudson made just one start last year before eventually requiring surgery on his pitching shoulder in June. He is expected to be recovered enough to compete in spring training. "When he's healthy, he's got some pretty dynamic stuff," GM Dayton Moore said in the Kansas City Star. "The quality of his pitches is very good.
