Angel Guzman had an MRI exam on his right elbow and will not throw for at least two weeks, the AP reports. Guzman was placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday because of a strained elbow.

The Cubs will place Angel Guzman on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. He has tightness in his right forearm, according to the Chicago Tribune. Pitcher Sean Gallagher will be called up to take Guzman's place. The Cubs do not believe the injury to be serious.

Angel Guzman is going to work in relief for the time being after leaving his last start with a cramping right hamstring, according to the Chicago Tribune. "We're going to put Guzman back in the bullpen, that is a certainty," manager Lou Piniella said. "With the leg cramps and so forth, there's no sense getting into that. Plus, he has a really nice arm. We can see this man developing into a nice late-inning pitcher for us." It's not clear yet who will replace Guzman in the rotation next week. "My body, my arm -- everything feels good. I just didn't get guys after I got them to two strikes," Guzman told the AP. "I was throwing a lot of strikes, but when I got to two strikes, I didn't get the guys out. And those are the ones who scored. When you get the guy to two strikes, you still have to be aggressive and I didn't do it today." Guzman now holds a 6.52 ERA in 9 2/3 spring innings.

Angel Guzman threw three solid innings yesterday and may be pushing Mark Prior out of the mix for the No. 5 spot in the Cubs rotation, according to the Daily Southtown. "He's throwing the ball like he wants a spot here," manager Lou Piniella said of Guzman. "And he's going to get every opportunity to. That was impressive. I told him after he pitched that he threw the ball very well, and I want him to continue to work hard here in camp and not take anything for granted."
