September 11, 2008 It was feared that Edgar Gonzalez would require Tommy John surgery on his strained right elbow, but he opted to rehab, and his progress has been favorable, according to the Arizona Republic. Gonzalez threw 25 pitches off the mound on Monday in a bullpen session and manager Bob Melvin said, "I'm surprised to see where he's at right now. Based on what we saw, it's pretty encouraging the road that he's going down right now." Our View:This is encouraging news, but he holds very little fantasy value as a middle reliever. |
