Newsbreakers
August 1, 2008
Brian Bruney was activated from the 60-day DL on while the team demoted Chris Britton to clear roster space, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Bruney was on the DL with a torn ligament in his foot and hasn't pitched in the majors since April 22nd. Bruney could end up filling a substantial role with the recent loss of Kyle Farnsworth, but he hasn't exactly impressed of late in the minors.
August 1, 2008
The New York Yankees have not recalled reliever Brian Bruney from the minor leagues because he has not demonstrated good control, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Bruney was throwing well before injuring a ligament in his right foot. In 11.1 innings, he had 12 strikeouts and a 1.59 ERA.
July 21, 2008
Brian Bruney will work in back-to-back games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this week, the AP notes. The reliever is on the DL due to a torn ligament in his right foot.

Our View:This should be a huge step for the setup man. Bruney has the stuff to be a pretty good seventh-inning arm, although he often battles control issues.
July 4, 2008
Brian Bruney went two innings, giving up two hits and one run in a rehab appearance, according to the Associated Press. "My arm felt great, so I'm excited," he said.

Our View:Bruney was good in relief this year, and though he doesn't hold much value in traditional fantasy formats, he may accumulate some holds when he comes back.
June 19, 2008
Brian Bruney, who is recovering from a torn ligament in his left foot, remains optimistic he could return to the Yankees in late July, according to Pinstripe-Alley.com. But he first needs to get into a rhythm of throwing every other day, and then getting in some work in rehab games.

Our View:Late July to early August seems an accurate estimation for his return. He will help the Yankees pen upon his return, but will hold little fantasy value as a middle-reliever.
