Newsbreakers
September 22, 2008
Todd Wellemeyer fell to 12-9 after allowing nine hits, four walks and three runs to the D'backs. Wellemeyer had a solid night in the strikeout department with seven.

Our View:Wellemeyer is putting the finishing touches on a pretty remarkable campaign given that he entered the year with just 11 career starts. With a 3.69 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP, Wellemeyer has been a tremendous asset in NL-only leagues as well as a great weapon in mixed leagues.
September 17, 2008
Todd Wellemeyer only gave up three runs in his six innings against the Reds Wednesday night but suffered his eighth loss of the year, 4-0.

Our View:Wellmeyer has had a great season winning 12 games so far and an ERA of 3.63 but in his last five starts the Cardinals could only muster seven runs. In those five starts Wellmeyer has only won one.
September 11, 2008
Todd Wellemeyer didn't allow an earned run on Thursday night but he still suffered his seventh loss of the year in the Cardinals 3-2 loss to the Cubs. Wellemeyer allowed two runs, both unearned, over five innings of work.

Our View:Wellemeyer has 12 wins and a 3.63 ERA, not to mention a strong 1.23 WHIP, in what has been a great season, one that has continued over his last three starts as he has produced a 1.80 ERA despite a 1-2 record.
September 6, 2008
Todd Wellemeyer went eight innings for the win on Saturday against the Marlins. He gave up three runs, all on home runs, while striking out seven. He is now 12-6 on the season.

Our View:Wellemeyer has been a pleasant surprise this season if only for the fact that he has hurled 168.1 innings. He lowered his ERA to 3.74 on Saturday.
August 31, 2008
Todd Wellemeyer took a tough loss on Sunday. He held the Astros to four hits and one run over seven innings, and his teammates were unable to score. Wellemeyer sunk to 11-6. He went 3-2 with a 2.58 ERA over six starts in August.

Our View:Wellemeyer continues to have a solid season and is a decent back-end option for fantasy owners in mixed leagues. Dave Duncan has worked wonders here.
