Newsbreakers
December 9, 2008
ESPN.com is reporting that the Rays are talking to the Twins about a deal that would bring outfielder Delmon Young back to the Rays. Tampa Bay likely would deal away either Andy Sonnanstine or Edwin Jackson. But the trade could also involve a third team, because the Twins aren't looking to add starting pitching.

Our View:The Giants, Rockies and Phillies have also expressed interest making it seem unlikely that Young returns to the Twins next season. The Twins would like to add an infielder in return for the enigmatic outfielder.
December 8, 2008
The San Francisco Giants may be interested in Twins outfielder Delmon Young, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View:Young has immense talent, but lacks power. Going to San Francisco likely wouldn't help that much.
December 8, 2008
The Phillies have inquired about Twins' outfielder Delmon Young, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:There is belief the Twins would want prized prospect Jason Donald (shortstop) in return for Young. He would fill the Phillies' void in left field left by Pat Burrell.
December 8, 2008
The Rockies covet a slugging outfielder after dealing Matt Holliday to Oakland, and the club could be interested in Delmon Young, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:The Twins could ask for Huston Street as part of a deal, who would provide a strong setup man for closer Joe Nathan. Pat Neshek is expected to miss the 2009 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Young failed to tap his power potential with Minnesota, but he may be able to break out while playing his home games at launching pad Coors Field.
November 30, 2008
The Twins covet an infielder for the left side in exchange for Delmon Young, according to BaseballProspectus.com.

Our View:That would allow the club to free up an outfield spot for Denard Span in the starting lineup. Young hit .290 for Minnesota last season, but was a grave disappointment in the power department with only 10 homers.
