The Braves optioned Anthony Lerew to Triple-A Richmond, just two days after calling him up.

The Braves recalled Anthony Lerew from Triple-A Richmond Saturday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He's spent time at Double- and Triple-A this season, but he was pitching well in August with Richmond, going 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 23 innings over four starts.

The Braves demoted Anthony Lerew from Triple-A Richmond to Double-A Mississippi after he went 1-4 with a 9.38 ERA in 12 games for Richmond, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Lerew was with the Braves for a brief time earlier this year but did not pitch in a game.

Anthony Lerew was impressive in workouts on Monday and could garner some consideration for the Braves' closer job, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Lerew was the star of the day," Cox said after seeing the right-hander dominate hitters in batting practice. "Hopefully he can have those kind of days [consecutively], because he was as right on as you can possibly get."
