Chad Billingsley had surgery to repair a broken leg on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. He slipped on ice outside of his home in Pennsylvania and it resulted in a spiral fracture.

Our View:Billingsley will be in a cast for about two weeks and the injury doesn't appear that it will affect him for the 2009 season of spring training.
October 15, 2008
Chad Billingsley, who was undefeated at 6-0 with a 1.60 ERA over his last seven regular season starts at home, didn't even make it out of the third inning on Wednesday night as he allowed four hits, four walks and three runs before being removed from the game.

Our View:They won't be talking about this guys playoff exploits in a positive manner after he was torched for 10 earned runs in five innings of work over two starts, both loses, against the Phillies in the NLCS. For such an accomplished hurler this was a simply stunning reversal of fortune.
October 11, 2008
Dodgers pitcher Chad Billingsley was horrid in the team's loss to the Phillies, and put part of the blame for his 2.1 inning debacle in which he allowed seven earned runs on catcher Russell Martin, according to Amy Nelson of ESPN.com. "I felt good; I felt I had good stuff. I didn't do well [Friday] and I didn't get the job done and I think pitch selection was kind of what the problem was," Billingsley said.

Our View:If Billingsley didn't like the pitch selection, he does have the authority to shake Martin off. Joe Torre has a way of dealing with these things, so we don't expect this to be a festering issue down the road.
October 10, 2008
Chad Billingsley was rocked for seven earned runs on eight hits over a mere 2.1 innings of work in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Phillies in Game 2 of the NLCS at Citizens Bank Park, with three walks and five strikeouts. The Dodgers now trail 2-0 in the series.

Our View:Billingsley nailed down 16 wins for the Dodgers in the regular season, and fared well in a winning effort in the NLDS against the Cubs, but was unable to help the Dodgers climb back into the series tonight.
October 3, 2008
Chad Billingsley pitched a gem in Thursday's 10-3 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Game 2 of the NLDS, as he only surrendered one earned run on five hits over 6.2 innings, with one walk and seven strikeouts. His strong effort helped lead the Dodgers to a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Our View:Billingsley won 16 games in the regular season with a 3.14 ERA and 1.34 WHIP for the AL West champion Dodgers, and he did not disappoint under the pressure of the postseason.
September 27, 2008
Chad Billingsley will get the ball for the start in Game 2 of the Dodgers NLDS, according to the LA Times.

Our View:Billingsley has had a great year this year with 16 wins and ERA of 3.17. He is also averaging over nine strike outs per nine innings.
September 27, 2008
Chad Billingsley will likely pitch in relief of Greg Maddux on Saturday in order to keep his arm fresh for his Game 2 NLDS start according to the L.A. Times.

Our View:After originally being scratched from his start, it appears Billingsley will go in a limited appearance on Saturday.
September 26, 2008
Chad Billingsley has been scratched from his final regular season start on Sunday so that he will be available to start Game 2 of the playoffs, according to the Los Angeles Times. Hiroki Kuroda is now in line to make the start.

Our View:Tough break for Billingsley owners. Chad will end the year with a 16-10 mark along with a 3.17 ERA and 199 K. His future is bright, and there is no reason why he won't be one of the top-10 arms taking amongst NL starters next season.
September 24, 2008
Chad Billingsley picked up his 16th win of the season Tuesday, allowing just one run on nine hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings.

Our View:Billingsley will start Sunday but will throw only a couple innings if the team has already clinched a playoff spot so he'll be available for Game 2 of the NLDS.
September 23, 2008
Chad Billingsley is slated to start Sunday's regular season finale for the Dodgers, but if the team clinches a playoff spot before then, he will pitch only a few innings Sunday so he would be available to start Game 2 of the NLDS on Thursday, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Derek Lowe would get the ball in Game 1 of the NLDS should the Dodgers clinch a playoff spot.
September 12, 2008
Chad Billingsley moved to 15-10 on Friday night after giving up two runs over six innings in Colorado.

Our View:Billingsley's has lost just one game since July 19. 2008 has solidified his spot in fantasy rotations for years to come. He is a strikeout pitcher on a quality team who should only get better with time.
September 7, 2008
The Dodgers will have broadcaster Vin Scully back for a 60th season of calling games, according to the Los Angeles Times. However, he plans to take it year-by-year after that, saying, "I'm really weary talking about beyond this afternoon. ... There's a beginning, a middle and an end for all of us. I know that I have a lot more yesterdays than I have tomorrows."

Our View:Vin Scully is one of the greatest broadcasters in the history of sports, much less baseball. The only one who may disagree is Jeff Kent, who appallingly said recently that Scully talks too much.
September 6, 2008
Chad Billingsley was dealing against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday afternoon. He struck out nine batters in 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. He now has 186 strikeouts in 182 innings this season.

Our View:Billingsley's impressive strikeout rate makes him a force in fantasy. But that's not all. After his latest victory, his ERA is down to just 3.02.
August 30, 2008
Chad Billingsley only allowed two earned runs on nine hits over seven innings in Saturday's 6-2 win over Arizona, with two walks and six strikeouts.

Our View:Billingsley claimed his 13th win of the season, and only lost one start in August.
August 25, 2008
Dodgers hurler Chad Billingsley was too wild, walking five Philadelphia Phillies and picking up his 10th loss of the year by going six innings and allowing three earned runs in his team's 5-0 loss.

Our View:Billingsley has been one of the more underrated pitchers in fantasy baseball this season. He doesn't get enough attention, partly because his win total doesn't reflect how well he has thrown.
August 15, 2008
Chad Billingsley is 10-5 with a 2.58 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 19 starts since May 1, and his teammates handle left-handers better than right-handers. The Dodgers have a .763 OPS against left-handers compared to their puny .699 against righties.

Our View:A solid effort by Billingsley tonight and he should register his 12th win of the season.
August 6, 2008
The Dodgers failed to get the win, falling 6-4 to the Cardinals, but it was not due to the effort of RHP Chad Billingsley . Billingsley pitched five innings, allowing one run on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts.

Our View:Billingsley went 7-3 over the last two months coming in, and while he walks with no decision, the loss pours salt into the wounds of a team that wasted a strong pitching effort.
July 30, 2008
Chad Billingsley tossed a complete game shutout against the Giants that was preserved on a play at the plate as Andre Ethier threw out Jose Castillo for the last out of the game.

Our View:Billingsley dominated all game long as he improved to 11-9. The big difference tonight was Chad's control of the strike zone as he struck out eight without walking a single batter. When he is in control of his stuff, he is just about as hard to hit as any starter in the league.
July 26, 2008
Chad Billingsley won his tenth game of the season as he threw 7.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits in the Dodgers 3-2 win over the Nationals.

Our View:Billingsley has a 3.26 ERA on the season, and has struck out over a batter an inning. He is one of the most valuable pitchers in fantasy baseball, and likely one of the most underappreciated as well.
July 13, 2008
Chad Billingsley struck out a career-high 13 over seven innings helping the Dodgers to a 9-1 win over the Marlins on Sunday afternoon. The Dodgers right-hander allowed one run on five hits and didn't walk a batter.

Our View: Billingsley retired 15 of 16 batters at one point, 10 via strike (six consecutive) in his ninth win of the season.
July 3, 2008
Chad Billingsley pitched eight strong innings and the Los Angeles Dodgers scored a 5-2 win over the Houston Astros on Thursday. Billingsley allowed six hits, walked one and struck out five in his fourth straight win.

Our View:Billingsley didn't allow a baserunner through the first three innings and lowered his 3.38 ERA to 3.12 in the effort.
June 28, 2008
RHP Chad Billingsley will be hitting the mound to represent his Dodgers against the cross-town rival Angels this evening, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Billingsley is just 6-7 on the season but has won his last two starts, and has lowered his ERA to a solid 3.64. Billingsley only lasted five innings in his matchup against the Cleveland Indians this past Sunday, but he still collected a 4-3 victory, allowing three runs on eight hits, but also posted four strikeouts. In his career, the 23-year-old has made three appearances against the Angels, including one start. In nine total innings of work against Anaheim, Billingsley has surrendered four runs (only two earned) on six hits and five walks.
June 22, 2008
Chad Billingsley only last five innings on Saturday, but it was enough as he was able to win his sixth game of the season for the Dodgers.

Our View:Billingsley only struck out four batters, but he limited the free passes, issuing only one, which helped him to the victory on this day.
June 17, 2008
Chad Billingsley was marvelous for the Dodgers Tuesday night, limiting the Reds to one run on five hits and three walks while striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings.

Our View:It's good to see Chad get back on track after two rough outings to begin June.
June 17, 2008
Chad Billingsley will be in action tonight when the Dodgers battle the Reds in Cincinnati, according to MLB.com. He is 4-7 this season with a 3.71 ERA and decent 1.36 WHIP over 77.2 innings, with 82 strikeouts.

Our View:Billingsley provides solid fantasy value in the strikeouts department with 82, but he is winless over his last four starts, and has surrendered two homers in each of his last two, which does not bode well for him tonight at the Great American Ballpark.
June 11, 2008
Chad Billingsley gave up four runs over seven innings to the Padres to lose his seventh game of the season. Billingsley, who entered the game averaging 10.06 K/9, only struck out three batters on the night.

Our View:Billingsley was done in on this night by the home run allowing two. He only walked one batter over seven innings in a rare display of control of the strike zone, but he just couldn't put away batters on this night.
June 5, 2008
Chad Billingsley struck out eight batters in just five innings of work though he allowed the Cubs to score four runs thanks to seven hits and three walks.

Our View:Tonight Billingsly was bit by the long ball being taken deep twice after entering the game with only three home runs allowed over 65.2 innings. Billingsley now has his K/9 up to 10.06 as he continues to dominate hitters when he throws strikes.
May 31, 2008
Chad Billingsley threw seven scoreless innings, with only four hits allowed, in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Mets. He also had three walks with four strikeouts, and ended the battle with a no decision.

Our View:He has only allowed three total earned runs over his last four starts, and is pitching well despite his 4-6 record.
May 31, 2008
The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers will do battle on the fields of major league baseball today as Dodger ace RHP Chad Billingsley takes the mound, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Billingsley has built a strong 23-15 career record to this point and is surging as the go-to arm for the Dodgers this season, surrendering two or less runs in five of his last six starts. In his last outing against the Cubs, Billingsley allowed just two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts but failed to get the win. His lone career start against the Mets ended with a win, going six innings to allow just one earned run.
May 26, 2008
Chad Billingsley allowed two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out seven over six innings. The Dodgers couldn't support his solid performance, scratching out only one run in the 3-1 loss to the Cubs.

Our View:Billingsley, who sports a 3.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, deserved better today. The Dodgers' right-hander lost his sixth game of the season, but performances like today's will result in wins more often than losses.
May 21, 2008
Dodgers RHP Chad Billingsley put his best effort on the mound tonight and led his team to a strong 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Billingsley went seven innings of shutout baseball to allow four hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts on the night.

Our View:The win pushes Billingsley to 4-5 on the season and is now 4-1 over his last five starts, a great turnaround after going 0-4 over his first six. He has a few more walks than you might like (27 on the season), but tonight might indicate better results in that column moving forward.
May 15, 2008
Chad Billingsley nailed down his third win of the season on Thursday, as the Dodgers defeated the Brewers 7-2. He only allowed one run on three hits over seven innings, with four walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:Other than the four walks, it was a great outing for him. He has been incosistent as he alternated good and poor performances, but his fantasy stock remains on the rise.
April 30, 2008
Chad Billingsley finally picked up his first victory of the season on Wednesday as he limited the Marlins to three hits and one run over seven innings.

Our View:Billingsley struck out eight batters giving him an ultra impressive total of 40 in just 27.2 innings (13.01 K/9). If his current owner is still fixated on his 1-4 record or 5.20 ERA, this may be your last chance to pounce.
April 25, 2008
Chad Billingsley struck out a career-high 12 batter on Thursday, his third straight game with at least eight K, though he fell to 0-4 after giving up five runs in six innings.

Our View:Billingsley continues to dominate hitters with an amazing 13.93 K/9, hut he is also walking an unhealthy 5.66 batter per nine innings which has been his major issue on the young season. The potential is there for great things this year, so you might want to see if his current owner is fixated on the 0-4 record.
April 19, 2008
Chad Billingsley dominated the Braves for four innings before falling apart in the fifth inning when he allowed four runs to pick up the loss. All told, Billingsley allowed six hits and five walks, though he did strikeout nine batters.

Our View:As if often the case with Billingsley, he cruises along for a while and then just loses all control of the strike zone. He continues to have a very high ceiling, but he also comes with some risk as can bee seen by his 0-3 record and 6.14 ERA on the season.
April 13, 2008
Chad Billingsley bounced back from a rough opening start and pitched well on Sunday. He held the Padres to one run and four hits over five innings. Billingsley walked two and struck out eight. He unfortunately earned a loss, as the Dodgers were unable to score.

Our View:We really like that Billingsley pounded the strike zone more this time out, as that was a huge problem for him in his last outing.
April 8, 2008
Chad Billingsley had to wait a while for his first start of the season. Perhaps he would have been better off waiting longer. The right-hander lasted just 2 1/3 innings Tuesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out one. Billingsley gave up one run in a couple relief appearances last week. This was certainly a rough first start for the youngster, but be patient. He'll get better.
April 8, 2008
Chad Billingsley is expected to finally make his first official start of the season, following two unexpected relief appearances, according to MLB.com. He was scratched from his scheduled debut last Wednesday before the first pitch because of an unfavorable rain forecast, then relieved for 1/3 of an inning, only for rain to stop play for about 74 minutes. He was then called on in relief again on Friday against the Padres for two scoreless innings. He is notably 4-1 with a 2.36 ERA lifetime against the D-Backs, and was 2-1 against them last year. He will square off against Doug Davis, who is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA.
April 3, 2008
Chad Billingsley was scheduled to start on Wednesday but the Dodgers decided not to start him for fear of rain. When it looked like the rain had passed the Dodgers put Billingsley into the game, only to have the rains return. All told, Chad threw 21 pitches and picked up just one out before an hour plus rain delay knocked him out of the game. And that is a raspberry that you are hearing from the fantasy community Dodgers. Given that he was in line to pitch against perhaps the worst offense in the National League, the Dodgers couldn't have botched this any worse if they had tried.
March 23, 2008
Chad Billingsley battled through his second consecutive poor start on Sunday, allowing five runs in the Dodgers' 8-2 Cactus League loss to the Colorado Rockies. Billingsley, expected to open the regular season as the No. 3 starter in the Dodgers' rotation, has allowed 10 runs in his last two outings and 16 in 17 1/3 spring training innings while trying to add a changeup to his arsenal. It's only spring, but so far, so disappointing, for the Dodgers right-hander.
March 7, 2008
Chad Billingsley gave up five hits on Friday in Vero Beach including a third homer to D'Angelo Jimenez in the third inning. The Dodgers right-hander struck out four and walked one in the loss. "He was fine," Torre said. "The wind blew a couple of them out of the ballpark. There's not a lot you can do about that. He got the ball down. I thought he used all his pitches, got his work in, which is the most important thing." Billingsly's current ADP is the late 11th or early 12th round in mixed formats.
February 28, 2008
Chad Billingsley was scratched from his scheduled start for Thursday's Grapefruit League opener, according to the team website. The move was just a precautionary measure because of a sore groin according to the team, and he's expected to be back on the mound within the week.
February 27, 2008
Chad Billingsley injured his groin and as a result he was scratched from his scheduled start on Thursday, this according to the AP. Billingsley will instead pitch a simulated game, and he reportedly said that the injury was nothing serious. Many pitchers end up with minor bumps and bruises at this time of year, so don't read too much into this situation unless he starts to miss more time than just this start.
