November 13, 2008 The Florida Marlins have traded right-handed reliever Kevin Gregg to the Chicago Cubs for pitcher Jose Ceda, according to Our View:Gregg could have an opportunity to close, as the Cubs will not re-sign Kerry Wood, but it would make sense that Carlos Marmol would get the first opportunity if Wood is not back. |

October 26, 2008 The Marlins have been in serious talks to trade Mike Jacobs and are expected to deal Scott Olsen and Kevin Gregg, as well, according to the Our View:Gregg may or may not find himself in a closer role if he's dealt. He blew nine saves in 38 chances this season. |

October 23, 2008 Kevin Gregg is rumored to be among the Marlins trade chips for this offseason, according to the Our View:The Florida closer was 7-8 this year with 29 saves and a 3.41 ERA. Gregg made $2.5 million this year and is arbitration elgible. The Marlins probably won't want to pay him, so they may trade him rather than allowing him to become a free agent. The Mets, Cardinals, and Angels could all be canidates for a closer, with Brian Fuentes and K-Rod becoming free agents as well. |
