Newsbreakers
September 28, 2008
Ubaldo Jimenez struck out 10 hitters in seven shutout innings on Sunday against the Diamondbacks. However, it was not good enough for the win as Arizona came back to win in the bottom of the ninth.

Our View:He brought his ERA down to 3.99 with his outing on Sunday. If the 24 year old pitches in 2009 like he did in September 2008, he will be of great fantasy value.
September 16, 2008
Ubaldo Jimenez picked up his 11th win Tuesday, as he held the Padres to two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out nine over seven innings.

Our View:Jimenez is consistently inconsistent, but he's certainly capable of outings like this.
September 11, 2008
Ubaldo Jimenez allowed two earn runs in five innings while striking out six, in the Rockies 8-4 loss.

Our View:Jimenez continued to be a little wild, as he walked four hitters in five innings. On the year Jimenez is averaging 4.56 walks every nine innings.
September 5, 2008
Ubaldo Jimenez allowed three runs and five hits, struck out six, hit two batters and walked one in six-plus innings. It was just his second win in a month.

Our View:As usual he was a little wild. Regardless, hopefully this win puts to rest the poor performances he strung together in August.
September 4, 2008
Ubaldo Jimenez was 6-1 with a 1.49 ERA in seven starts that began in July, so after his last outing out six runs in just 3.2 innings, and a rough August (5.79 ERA, 1.71 WHIP), he will look to rebound his next time on the hill, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View:Jimenez has a solid K.9 mark of 7.35, but he continues to walk too many batters (4.67 BB/9) to consistently dominate which helps explain his terribly up and down work. Still, he is up to 167.2 innings and has had a fine year overall for the Rockies. He could be a factor next season.
