May 20, 2008 Phil Stockman has been added to the Braves "closer by committee" and could be the sleeper among the group to grab the majority of the ninth inning work. The right-hander has impressed manager Bobby Cox since being called up last week. Our View:Stockman has a history with the disabled list, but he's been terrific at every stop in his minor league tenure. Stockman allowed only eight hits in 22.1 innings of work at Triple-A Richmond, striking out 19 and walking nine. Owners in NL-only formats looking to vulture saves, should consider taking a chance on Stockman. |
