Rafael Perez took the Sunday loss in relief of Paul Byrd's best start of the young season. The Cleveland bats are in a funk, and the defending AL Central champions have lost eight of their past 11 games. Perez gave up one run on four hits, walked one and struck out one in two innings of work.

Our View:This was the left-handers ninth appearance of the young season. The loss was his first and the run allowed raised actually lowered his ERA to 5.19.

The Indians optioned Rafael Perez to Triple-A Buffalo after Saturday's game, according to the AP. Perez, who was recalled from Buffalo on Thursday, made his only appearance Saturday against Baltimore. He pitched three innings in relief, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out three.

On Tuesday, the Indians optioned Rafael Perez to Triple-A Buffalo, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Perez, who was replaced on the roster by Brian Sikorski, began the season in the starting rotation with Double-A Akron, but he'll work out of the bullpen with Buffalo. "Raffie will be back," said manager Eric Wedge.

The Indians recalled Rafael Perez from Double-A Akron Friday to replace Scott Sauerbeck on the roster, who was designated for assignment, according to the AP. Perez went 4-5 with a 2.81 for the Aeros and will serve as the only lefty in the Indians bullpen.

As expected, Rafael Perez was optioned to Double-A Akron by the Indians on Saturday to make room on the roster for Jeremy Guthrie. Perez had made only one appearance for the Indians this season.
