The Reds activated David Weathers from the 15-day disabled list on Monday. The right-hander has appeared in eight games this season, pitched 7.1 innings, walked eight and struck out only one.

Our View:Weathers is expected to return to his setup role, but the Reds are hoping for better results than he produced in April.

David Weathers is expected to return from the DL when eligible on Monday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Weathers, who is recovering from an elbow injury, threw a scoreless inning for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. Manager Dusty Baker said, "He didn't feel any discomfort. Reading the report, he said he felt pretty good. There's a good chance."

Our View:Weathers would likely serve as a middle reliever until he proves he is healthy and can handle a role as the Reds' setup man. The team did not state who would come off the roster when Weathers is activated.

David Weathers' rehab on his ulnar nerve irritation in his pitching elbow is coming along well, this according to MLB.com. "I'm getting there," Weathers said. "I should be right on schedule."

Our View:Weathers threw on Thursday in the bullpen, and if he is indeed on schedule, that would put his return at May 5th when he would likely slide back into a 6th or 7th inning role until he proves he is healthy.

David Weathers has been placed on the 15-day DL due to ulnar nerve irritation in his right elbow, according to the AP. He said, "You just know when something�s not right. It started on that one pitch, a burning sensation. If you stop, you can catch it early maybe, and I don�t want to push it over the edge."

Our View:The 38-tear old is 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in eight appearances this season (with only one strikeout), and his fantasy value remains very low.

With the signing of Francisco Cordero to handle the ninth inning, Dave Weathers will be moved back into a setup role in 2008. Weathers did save 33 games this year with a 3.59 ERA, but he still doesn't have the stuff of a prototypical closer.
