Newsbreakers
October 16, 2008
Jacoby Ellsbury will sit again in Thursday night's Game 5 of the ALCS, according to the Boston Globe. Coco Crisp will bat leadoff and replaces him in center field.

Our View:Ellsbury is hitless in his last 20 playoff at bats. He will likely play some role in the game, especially if it is close.

With left hander Scott Kazmir on the hill for the Rays in Game 5, Jacoby Ellsbury just might find himself on the bench yet again after he was out of the lineup in Game 4, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Ellsbury is hitless in his last 20 playoff at bats though in an odd twist he has been a fair hitter against Kazmir, despite the fact that he is left-handed, with a .286 average in 14 at-bats.

Jacoby Ellsbury is being benched for tonight's game after posting no hits in his last 20 at-bats, according to MLB.com. J.D. Drew will bat leadoff and Coco Crisp will play center field.

Our View:After a red-hot ALDS, Ellsbury has been solved by the Rays' pitching staff. He is 100 percent available for the game and figures to play a part in it if it is kept close.
October 13, 2008
Jacoby Ellsbury will roam center field and remain in the leadoff spot in tonight's Game 3 of the ALCS against the Rays, despite going 0-for-11 (with no walks) over the first two games in the series, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The team still has faith in the speedy rookie, who swiped 50 bases and scored 98 runs in the regular season.
October 5, 2008
Jacoby Ellsbury had a big night at the plate going 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI for the Sox. He also had second base stolen before sliding over the bag and being tagged out by Erik Aybar.

Our View:Ellsbury has looked good at the plate hitting .429, and continues to be a positive influence at the top of the Sox order despite making the occasional mistake (such as sliding past second on that steal attempt).
