The Miami Herald reports Cameron Maybin is likely to start with the Marlins in 2009. GM Mike Hill said, "I think everyone saw in September what he is capable of doing, and the excitement and the talent he brings to the ballpark every day. That's what we traded for."

Our View:The Marlins gave up Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to acquire Maybin and five others from the Tigers last December. The 21-year-old is considered one of the top prospects in baseball, and could end up hitting high in the Marlins' batting order.

Cameron Maybin had another exceptional night at the dish for Florida on Wednesday. The September call up went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and a stolen base in the Marlins 9-4 victory over the Nationals. Maybin came up awkwardly after stealing second base in the sixth and was replaced in center field for the bottom half because of a stiff left hip according to the AP. "You want to be more safe than sorry, but it feels fine," Maybin said.

Our View:Maybin will almost certainly be on the opening day roster in 2009 due to his strong performance thus far. He is hitting .500 in 28 at bats since becoming the starting center fielder.
September 21, 2008
Cameron Maybin had his first hitless game in five appearances with the Marlins as he went 0-for-5 from the leadoff spot on Sunday.

Our View:Maybin is 10-for-21 with seven runs scored in a blazing start to his career in Florida. Maybin still has a lot of work to do at the plate before he will produce the type of numbers that are expected of him, so don't overhype this kid heading into the '09 season.
September 19, 2008
Cameron Maybin is proving why he was considered a top prospect after just three games. On Friday, Maybin went 4-for-5 with three runs and a stolen base. His average actually fell to .818 after the stellar effort.

Our View:Maybin is probably on your waiver wire and could be a nice pick up down the stretch for fantasy owners. He is an obvious must-have in keeper leagues.
September 15, 2008
Cameron Maybin will be recalled from Double-A Carolina on Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:Maybin is a top prospect, but still needs some work before he can make an impact in the majors. He is only worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues for the closing weeks of the season.
