Felipe Paulino flew to Houston on Thursday to be examined by team medical director Dr. David Lintner today, according to the Houston Chronicle. Paulino experienced tightness in his shoulder during his first minor league rehab outing Tuesday for Triple-A Round Rock, but the injury isn’t linked to the pinched nerve in his right arm that has kept him on the DL all season.

Our View:Paulino would return to Round Rock to pitch tonight if his exam goes well.

Felipe Paulino has experienced elbow tightness in his first rehab appearance Wednesday, according to Astros.com. He didn't have a reoccurrence of the nerve issue that shelved him in Spring Training and later forced him to the DL, but his recent shoulder issue is cause for concern. He will be examined by team medical director David Lintner on Thursday.

Our View:He was scheduled to make a pair of relief appearances with Triple-A Round Rock this week, but now that plan is wiped out. On a positive note, his control was good today prior to exiting after 2/3 of an inning. The team will wait to hear from Lintner before deciding the next course of action for Paulino.

Houston pitcher Felipe Paulino will throw his second simulated game today as he recovers from a pinched nerve in his right arm, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:Paulino will throw two innings at 20 pitches per inning and barring any setbacks, he will begin his rehab assignment.

Felipe Paulino is making progress in his recovery from a pinched nerve in his upper right arm, according to the Houston Chronicle. He threw a bullpen session Saturday for the first time since spring training, and will throw another bullpen Monday before pitching simulated games Wednesday and Saturday. He said, "I’m feeling great. This is the first time (since he was injured) I’ve thrown my slider and curveball on the hill. I felt strong and mechanically was making progress. It’s just a matter of time before I’m ready for a game."

Our View:If all goes favorably without a setback, he will be sent out on a rehab assignment. He could be back in Houston at some point in mid-August.
July 22, 2008
Felipe Paulino, who is trying to bounce back from a pinched nerve in his upper right arm, will throw a bullpen session Tuesday for the first time since he got back on the mound last week, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:He also threw a bullpen session Friday for the first time since he was shut down May 7 after aggravating the injury he suffered in spring training. He is reportedly feeling good.
June 10, 2008
Updating an earlier story, Houston RHP Felipe Paulino is traveling to Houston to begin a rehab-and-conditioning program with the Astros' athletic training staff, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Paulino was held from action during spring training due to a pinched nerve in his right arm. Doctors cleared Paulino to begin throwing a month ago but he recently suffered a setback and is once again restricted from anything other than light tossing. Extended spring training has completed, thus Houston has to either send him home or continue work with the major league club.
June 10, 2008
Felipe Paulino has suffered another setback in his recovery from a pinched nerve in his upper right arm, and has been reduced to only playing light catch, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:He was previously anticipated to return before the All-Star break, and was competing for a rotation spot before the injury spoiled his bid.

March 11, 2008
Felipe Paulino has been dealing with discomfort in his upper arm for several days, according to the Houston Chronicle. He had his arm examined on Tuesday and is expected to undergo additional testing on Wednesday. He's trying to earn a spot at the back of the rotation or in the bullpen, but an extended absence likely would take him out of the mix.
