September 28, 2008
The AP reports that Ross Ohlendorf was pulled with runners on first and second with two outs in the fifth and the Pirates leading 2-1, making him ineligible for the victory. He allowed one run and five hits.

Our View:Despite the briefness of this stint, it was his best start of the season. Ohlendorf became a starter at the beginning of the month and prior to Sunday's start he had compiled an 0-3 record with a 7.50 ERA and 2.17 WHIP for the month.
September 21, 2008
Ross Ohlendorf was pounded by the Astros for 10 hits and four runs in just five innings against the Astros. With the loss, he fell to 0-3 with the Pirates.

Our View:Just plain ugly. Ohlendorf owns a 7.50 ERA and and his WHIP is approaching two. Too many home runs and walks have conspired to keep Ross's numbers down.
September 5, 2008
Pitching coach Jeff Andrews was impressed with Ross Ohlendorf's performance in his first major league start Wednesday against Cincinnati, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Andrews said, "I thought he did really well. He used his strength, which is his fastball. He made them speed up their bats. He attacked inside on both sides of the plate. He used his breaking ball ahead on the count well. He knew where to go with the breaking ball. His changeup is very usable."

Our View:He allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings in a no decision against Cincinnati, and his next start is set for Tuesday in Houston. He is worth targeting in NL-only leagues if available.
September 3, 2008
Ross Ohlendorf will make his first career start tonight against Cincinnati, and is auditioning for a spot in the rotation for 2009, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Manager John Russell said, "He's aggressive, throws strikes and he's strong. In the late innings, he's still throwing 95 mph and getting close to 98, 99 when he needs it. He's got some pitches and that can be exciting. I'm looking forward to seeing him."

Our View:He was acquired back in July from the Yankees in the Xavier Nady/Damaso Marte deal. Ohlendorf is expected to get five starts in September, and should be targeted in NL-only leagues.
September 2, 2008
Ross Ohlendorf has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and is slated to make his first start with the Pirates Wednesday against the Reds, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:He will remain active in a six-man rotation through September, and the 26-year-old hurler is worth targeting in NL-only leagues.
