Steve Holm has been recalled by the Giants from Triple-A Fresno, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:He will provide depth, and little else, at catcher. He does not merit fantasy attention.

Steve Holm was recalled to join the Giants on Wednesday to be Bengie Molina's backup, according to the Associated Press. Eliezer Alfonso was optioned back to Triple-A after hitting .091 in 11 AB.

Our View:Holm, who will start on Thursday for the Giants to give Molina a day off, was hitting .324 with nine RBI in 11 games since being demoted. He is nothing more than a depth play in NL only leagues that start two catchers.

Catcher Steve Holm has been sent down to Triple-A Fresno, according to the AP. The team recalled catcher Eliezer Alfonzo as an adjoining move.

Our View:Holm did not fare well as Bengie Molina's backup, as he held a .214 average over 70 at-bats. He held no fantasy value prior to his demotion.

Steve Holm was pulled from today's lineup at catcher due to illness, according to MLB.com. Manager Bruce Bochy thought Holm had a touch of food poisoning.

Our View:Bengie Molina was set for a day off, but has been placed into the starting lineup. Holm was hitting .268 over 41 at-bats with one homer and four RBI, and getting scratched shold hold no fantasy significance.
May 11, 2008
Giants catcher Steve Holm entered Sunday's game against the Phillies as a defensive replacement, then delivered a go-ahead two-run home run. It was his first major-league home run.

Our View:The backup catcher has now played in 15 games this year. Holm has four RBI and three runs scored on the year, offering owners in all formats little value.
May 8, 2008
Steve Holm went 1-for-4 and collected his first two RBI of the season on Thursday in a 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh. His hit was good for a double.

Our View:Holm has proven to be a solid backup this season, as he is hitting .309 (13-for-42) over 17 games. He holds no fantasy value.
April 1, 2008
Steve Holm will get a chance to compete for the backup role at catcher with the Giants, according to the Contra Costa Times. GM Brian Sabean stated, "We had chances to get something else done, but this is good for the organization. This is a guy who's beaten the odds and earned his way. That's a plus for everybody to see."
