The team activated Jake Peavy from the DL, and Thatcher was seen as expendable to make room on the roster. Our View:Thatcher was 0-4 over 20.2 innings of relief this season, with 17 earned runs allowed and a 2.03 WHIP. He held no fantasy value prior to his demotion. |

May 20, 2008 The Padres recalled left-hander Joe Thatcher from Class AAA Portland on Tuesday. Thatcher is taking the roster spot of Jake Peavy (elbow) who was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Our View:Thatcher began the season with the Padres, going 0-4 with a 6.75 ERA in 16 relief appearances before being optioned to Portland on May 11. |
