Newsbreakers
December 2, 2008
GM Kevin Towers commented that Chase Headley could roam third base at the start of next season if Kevin Kouzmanoff isn't ready following shoulder surgery, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Our View:That would move Scott Hairston to left field as well, but Kouzmanoff is expected to be good to go for the start of spring training, and Towers mentioned the scenario as a backup plan in case he suffers a setback.
September 19, 2008
The AP reports that Chase Headley had four hits, including a tie-breaking triple that keyed a five-run 14th inning, as the San Diego Padres beat the Washington Nationals 11-6 on Friday night.

Our View:No doubt Headley won over the fans that remained until the end of this meaningless game. The rookie has been ok for the Padres over the 83 games that he has appeared in, but the team will expect more of him next season.
September 7, 2008
Headley went 2-for-5 with his ninth home run of the season for the Padres on Sunday.

Our View:Quietly, Headley has proven to be a fine left fielder for the Padres this season. He is now hitting .268-9-30 in 261 at-bats, putting himself in place to win a job next season.
August 12, 2008
Chase Headley went 1-for-3 and got one of the Padres four hits on the night in his team's loss to Milwaukee.

Our View:Headley had a poor July, but his August has been solid, and he is now hitting .324 on the month. He also has an OBP well over .400. Headley could be useful in NL-only leagues.
July 18, 2008
Chase Headley saw his seven-game hitting streak come to an end with an 0-for-4 in San Diego's loss to the Cardinals.

Our View:Headley was hitting .318 in July before tonight's performance. He is still someone you should consider for your fantasy team, especially in NL-only leagues.
